Alpha Male Diner: Gabrielle Bisset + Give Away

Gabrielle Bisset is back at the Alpha Male Diner. Her Sons of Navarus recipes were so delicious we asked her to prepare her newest creation...Terek from Blood Spirit.

Thank you, Sharon, for having me here to celebrate the release of the third book in the Sons of Navarus series, Blood Spirit! And the celebration doesn't stop until the last day of October. All month the Blood Spirit/Sons of Navarus Paranormal Fall Fling giveaway has weekly prizes of a special Sons box set along with grand prizes of gift cards, ebooks, and cool Sons of Navarus swag at the end of the fling. Be sure to keep reading after the post for details on how to enter!

Your readers might remember my recipes for my vampires Vasilije and Saint, two of my heroes from my Sons of Navarus series. Well, Blood Spirit brings readers a new hero, Terek, and here's his recipe. Enjoy!

Terek (Vampire)
Recipe created by: Gabrielle Bisset
Blood Spirit-Book #3 Sons of Navarus series

2 hypnotic green eyes
2 razor sharp fangs
1 heart of a warrior
1 cup Spanish heat
2 cups passion
2 cups Devotion and Desire mix (see below)
Power of telepathy

Slowly blend together the first five ingredients, then add the power of telepathy. Fold in the Devotion and Desire Mix*. Let simmer for 700 years surrounded by adoring women. Cover in love and sprinkle with exotic spices of your choice before serving. Dish will have a sumptuous mouthfeel.

Caution: Terek is very addictive.

Makes: one very sexy male

*Devotion and Desire Mix
Blend essence of spirituality with sensuality of a vampire and let sit until each infuses the other. Keep in a cool, dark place.

Taste Test
"Ilona! Listen to your sire. Drink. Now!" he commanded.

Her eyes opened and turning her head, she whispered, "No. Let me go."

More roughly than he should have, he grabbed her face in his hand and forced her to look at him. "No, I will not lose you! Drink!"

Her voice began to fade and faintly she answered, "Please. I can't live like this."

Terek bent over her and placed a kiss on her lips. The fear that he'd lost her already pressed on his heart and even though he didn't understand why, he was sure when she left him she'd take part of him with her.

He whispered against her lips one last plea. "Do not take her from me. God, leave her with one who can care for her. I beg of you. Do not take her."

"Why do you want me to live when I don't?" she whispered hoarsely.

"Because there is something special in you as there is in all creatures."

Thanks again for having me here today to talk about my delicious vampire, and I hope readers will stop over at my blog to enter the Paranormal Fall Fling giveaway. There are weekly prizes and grand prizes at the end of the fling with gift cards, ebooks, and cool Sons of Navarus swag.

Places to find Gabrielle Bisset

I am everything you seek. I am vampire.

Blessed with the gift of telepathy, Terek always knows what a woman wants. His gift has afforded him nightly sensual pleasures and exotic treats for centuries, but beneath the surface he yearns for much more.

Ilona can give him what his soul craves, but only if he trusts his heart. One fateful choice made out of desire puts all he cares for in danger. With a civil war and the threat of Archon hunters at every turn, this Son may lose everything if he can't find the balance between heart and mind.

Taste Test
As I changed into the handpicked outfit, Dave Matthews Band's "Crash" came over the speakers in the shop. It was clearly a sign. I'd always had this theory that it couldn't be a bad day when that song came on the radio. I smiled to myself in the mirror as I pulled the blouse on and arranged it so it sat perfectly on my frame. A pair of cognac-colored boots were thrust into the dressing room just in time.

"Thanks," I told the disembodied arm.

"You're welcome. I forgot that Peyta wears the same size as you. I think she was hiding them for herself. You'll never believe where I found them," Ronnie replied, chuckling to herself.

As I unzipped the boots to put them on, the jingling bells signaled another customer entering. "Can I help you?" Ronnie asked, sounding a little sweeter than usual.

Hot guy for sure.

"Got any vintage rock shirts? Preferably something from the seventies?"

Oh. My. God.

"Sure. Over there in the corner. I have some in the back too. I'll go pull them for you," she said, sounding all too happy to oblige.

As soon as the coast was clear, I stuck my head out to see Sean standing where Ronnie had directed him,
rifling through the tees.

"Do you work on your stalker qualities, or are you just stalker-tastic by nature?" I asked him while his back was facing me.

"Ruby," he said without turning around right away. When he finally did, the remnants of a smile werebarely visible on his face. "Nice outfit," he said, giving me elevator-eyes.

"Evasion and flattery will get you nowhere. Do I need a restraining order or what?" I asked, trying desperately to stifle the grin that was tugging on my lips, threatening to expose my true sentiment.

"Maybe," was his only response.

"I found these four in the back. They look like they should fit you," Ronnie said as she shot through the strings of beads.

"It's not for me, but thanks. The size should be fine."

"Is it your boyfriend's birthday?" I asked, mockingly.

"Don't worry, Ruby, he's just a friend. You know it's you I really want," he kidded. I turned eighty shades of red.

Ronnie cocked her head to the side as she watched us, clearly amused with something as the right corner of her mouth twitched and turned up. I rolled my eyes at her and bit the proverbial bullet.

"Ronnie, this is Sean. Sean, Ronnie."

They exchanged pleasantries before Ronnie focused her attention back on me.

"Just beefing up the wardrobe my ass" she said with the piercing eyes that only a mother possesses. I said nothing in response.

"I'll take this one," Sean said, breaking the brief silence which I had no intention of filling.

Ronnie turned to him and took the shirt before heading over to the counter to ring up the purchase.

I scoffed to myself and muttered something under my breath.

"What was that?" Sean asked.

I sighed heavily in an attempt to convey my displeasure with repeating myself.

"I said 'so much for that theory'."

"And what theory would that be?" he asked casually.

I sighed again.

"My theory that it can't ever be a bad day when Dave Matthews sings 'Crash' on the radio."

He smiled boyishly.

"You like that song?" he asked.

"It's one of my faves. Why?"

"You do know what it's about, don't you?" he asked, choking on a laugh.

"Apparently you do, so why don't you enlighten me?" I asked, getting frazzled by his persistence.

"It's about masturbation. He's a Peeping Tom, Ruby," he said, just before he roared with laughter.

"You're disgusting. It is not...it's about love."

The more I tried to defend my tune, the harder he laughed. Ronnie finally cleared her voice from behind the counter.

"It's forty-five dollars, please," she said to Sean.

He wiped the tears that were welling in his eyes from the strain of laughing.

"Sorry," he said as he reached into his pocket and pulled out the necessary cash. "Here you go."

He took the bag that Ronnie extended to him before turning back to me.

"I guess your theory was wrong. You really do look like you're having a bad day."

"You're an ass" was all I could muster in response.

"Never claimed to be anything else," he said as he strode past me flashing his impossibly green eyes down to mine. "You should buy it. Especially the boots. I have the perfect place for you to wear them,” he saidplainly. “I'll see you soon, Ruby."

I stared blankly at the door from which he'd just exited, completely speechless. I heard Ronnie come up beside me.

"I'd do more than beef up my wardrobe for that one," she said, her comment laced with innuendo.

"It's not like that, Ronnie," I defended.

"It should be. It really, really should be,” she said, staring me down.

Wondering what flavor of supernatural meat they are? That is part of the surprise. You have to eat read the book to find out.

After the death of her parents, Ruby awakens from a lifetime of shadows and finds herself alone, thrust into a world of lies, deceit, betrayal and the supernatural.

As her quest for truth continues to come up short, she realizes that maybe some questions really are best left unanswered.

When her true identity is finally unveiled, she is forced to choose between two of the mysterious men who continually seem to crop up in her life.

She chooses poorly.

Now abandoned, Ruby must learn to call on the darkness within to survive, or spend a hellish eternity imprisoned because of it.

Dragon*Con interview: Sascha Illyvich + Giveaway

There aren’t many male authors in the romance genre and probably even less who write PNR Kinky Erotica so we were glad to get a chance to talk with Sascha Illyvich.

Sharon: As an author in a mainly female driven erotica world how would you say you stand out?
Sascha: I stand out as the bad boy of romance. I simply write the romance stories and the readers like them.

Sharon: What POV do you use, a man’s or a woman’s?
Sascha: both. Thestory itself calls for a different POV each time in terms of length and youhave to get that emotional connection in there because readers they really wantthe female POV so they can identify but they also want to empathize with themale character. And I pride myself on being able to write cross gendereffectively.

Sharon: What's been the hardest part of writing thusfar?
Sascha: sobriety. Editing. Self-editing is actually verydifficult to do as you know from being a beta reader. It’s an art form that requiresa different skill set and what it basically boils down to is having tounderstand when to cut, when to not, when to change things.
Sharon: killing your darlings?
Sascha: It isn’tpersonal for me. It is a business, I’m not doing this to be cutesy. I am doingit because it is a skill I love, it’s an industry I love and I feel good at itthan anything else. Honestly.

Sharon: Who is your fantasy crush from tv or film andwhy? AND would you write them in a story?
Sascha: Bernadette Peters from Into the Woods, the onlyactual musical I will admit once in a while to actually enjoying otherwise I amnot a fan. If Bernadette Peters and I cold share a bed for days I would be inheaven.

Sharon: You walk into a room and your theme song blasts!What is it?
Sascha: Depends on my mood…it could be Sh** List byDevil Driver, it could be End of the Line because of the lyric “I’ve been toldto dust myself off to get the f*** up and keep going forward.” or occasionallyit might be Kick Start the Fight by Combichrist.

Sharon: If you had to eat the same thing for a wholeweek, what would it be?
Sascha: steak and Cabernet Sauvignon from France

Rapid Fire:

it is making me hungry too!
Sharon: Waffles or Pancakes?
Sascha: Pancakes. Chocolate Chip pancakes.
Sharon: IHOP?
Sascha: never, I’ve worked for them sort of.

Sharon: Sexy teacher or Sexy Dr.?
Sascha: both
Sharon: at one time?
Sascha: indeed

Sharon: Coke or Pepsi?
Sascha: Pepsi
Sharon: Pepsi is ruling!

Sharon: Fly away or Sail away?
Sascha: “I’m on a boat mother****er, I’m on a mother****ing boat!”
*for those of you not in the know- check out the song (NSFW)*

Sharon: Back in the saddle again or Walk this way?
Sascha: Walk this Way of course

Sharon: Frosted flakes or Raisin Brain?
Sascha:whychoose?

Thank you to Sascha for taking time out of his busy schedule to talk with us. Be sure to check out his sexy collection of stories.

Guest Post RJ Sullivan - Haunting Obsession +Give Away

Today is the last day for author RJ Sullivan and his Haunting Obsession book tour! And he is so...
(*kicks RJ with foot* Get off the floor...this is the last stop. Come on suck it up Sullivan!)
...glad to be here and tell us 5 ways to repel a ghost.

~~~~~~~~
Five ways to repel a ghost
RJ: [sitting at his desk, typing on his laptop] Welcome to the final day of the Haunting Obsession Blog Tour! Today I'd like thank ISmell Sheep for hosting today's entry, and as always, Seventh Star for working their magic to make this possible. It's been an incredible experience and I want to thank everyone involved for making my first blog tour so creative and fun.
So I was asked to write about ways in which someone can repel a ghost, which is a tricky topic, as I'm by no means an expert. I suppose the first thing someone needs to consider---
book illustrator: Bonnie Wasson
Maxine: [appears behind RJ, wraps an arm across his chest, crouches forward, and whispers in his ear.] Hi, sweetie, whatcha'working on?
RJ: Yikes!! [nearly falls out of chair] I wish you'd quit doing that.
Maxine: Of course you do, sweetie. Keep working on your delivery, I still don't quite believe it.
RJ: [collects himself] Never mind that. What can I do for you?
Maxine: I just wanted to know what you were working on.
RJ: I wasn’t writing about you, if that's what you mean---
Maxine: Oh, poo, you're no fun.
RJ: ---but I was asked to write about ways to repel a ghost if you're being haunted. I was just thinking I should call an expert, but I'm not sure who.
Maxine: Uh, hello, you just reached an expert.
RJ: What are you talking about?
Maxine: Well, I am a ghost, right? I can just tell you what repels me.
RJ: Well, that might be helpful. So tell me, Maxine Marie, as the ghost of a classic Hollywood actress, what repels you when you're on the .... um... haunt?
Maxine: Well, I don't know about other ghosts, but I can think of one thing that repels me immediately!
RJ: Okay, shoot.
Maxine: Mice.
RJ: Mice? Hmmm, interesting. You mean, mice have some sort of natural ghost repelling quality to them that---
Maxine: --No, I mean they're just so....so icky! Ooh![shivers] Just thinking of those gross little feet running past my ankles makes me want to scream! I'd never haunt a house if it had mice.
RJ: Yes, but I think what they're really looking for is---
Maxine: And number two would definitely be people who don't know how to dress themselves.
RJ: Wait, I don't think you get the ---
Maxine: You ever see how the shoppers dress at Wal Mart?
RJ: What's that to do with---
Maxine: ---You ever heard of a ghost haunting a Wal Mart?
RJ: Well, no, now that you mention it, but, wait, that's not a nice thing to say!
Maxine: You didn't let me finish! And you never heard of a ghost haunting a red carpet event, either!
RJ: Well, I couldn't say, but---
book illustrator: Bonnie Wasson
Maxine: ---What, you think I don't want to keep up on the Hollywood gossip? But it never fails! There I am, haunting the open bar,listening to the movie stars trash talking each other, maybe hoping to maybe scare up a glass of champagne if the bartender isn't paying attention. Then Jennifer Lopez walks by and I'm so out of there.
RJ: But I think what the bloggers wanted was---
Maxine: Oh, I just thought of another one! Want to hear it?
RJ: [Resigned] Can I possibly stop you?
Maxine: Fusion jazz.
RJ: Wait, what? I don't understand!
Maxine: I know, that's what I'm saying! I mean, what is it? Where's the beat? What's going on?I don't get that stuff at all! After 30 seconds, I've just gotta get out of here.
RJ: Look, Maxine, I think you miss the point. It's not what repels you, personally, but what would repel any ghost.
Maxine: Well, then you'll like this one.
RJ: Great, what is it?
Maxine: Tacky wall colors.
RJ: Wall color? What? No, that's not---
Maxine: Have you seen some houses? What goes through some people's minds? When is bright red a calming color? Who paints their walls neon purple? And peach? Really? Peach?
RJ: But that's---
Maxine: ---don't give me personal! No self-respecting ghost would be caught dead haunting a home with bright red walls.
RJ: Okay, I see how it is. [Turns to laptop, starts typing]
Maxine: Now what is that, four or five? [RJ continues typing]
Did you say you needed five? RJ? [RJ continues typing]
Hey, RJ, I'm talking to you. [RJ continues typing]
Oh, I see how you are. You got what you wanted from me and now I'm dismissed. Well it just so happens I have more important things to do, too! So I will see you later, Mister! [Maxine vanishes]
[RJ reviews what he typed.]
Five ways to repel a ghost.
1. Mice
2. Demonstrate poor fashion taste
3. Play Fusion Jazz
4. Tacky wall color
5. Ignore her until she gives up and goes away
~~~~~~~~
Thank you RJ *hands him a sheep pillow* now you can go to sleep.

Dragon*Con Interviews: Faith Hunter + Death's Rival give away

Faith Hunter the author of the Jane Yellowrock and Rouge Mage series.

Book 5 in the Jane series, Death's Rival, releases Oct. 2, 2012. You can read the first chapter here. More recently an ebook anthology plus bonus material set in her world released, Have Stakes Will Travel.

We get the low down about her future plans for the series, her latest sin, Kayaking safety and her tendency to sit on a fence…

Sharon: Tell us about Jane Yellowrock as a character.
Faith: Jane Yellowrock is a Cherokee skinwalker, possibly the last of her kind. In creating Jane, I did a lot of research into the skinwalker mythos because there is different mythos for every different tribe. Almost every ancient society has them and 99% of them are evil, but the Eastern Cherokee skinwalker was actually a benign warrior protector of the people till the white man came, then they became the evil skinwalker, the liver eater, the stone finger. I took that as my turning point for the species. Although they are full blooded skinwalker they are also full blooded Cherokee.

Some children are born one and some are born the other. Jane is the last of her kind so far as she knows and she is the last ‘good’ skinwalker that she has been able to find. Jane also did accidental black magic when she was 5 years old fighting for her life. As a skinwalker they are not allowed to do certain things but to save her life she did. Now she has the soul of a beast living inside her body. That is the Jane Skinwalker character in a nutshell.

Sharon: Book 5 is coming out Oct 2, 2012. Have you had all the book plots planned out since you started writing the series or has the series deviated from your original intentions? How many more to go?
Faith: No. I have a beginning and sort of a muddled way I want to get to the end, but it depends on how well the series does and if the publisher will allow me to take Jane out of New Orleans.
Sharon: But you do know your ending and how many books that will take?
Faith: I do know the end. If they let me take Jane out of New Orleans it will be 15 books. If they make me keep her there it will be 10. My editor and I had this discussion about a month ago and she said “oh, honey take them out of New Orleans then.” So hopefully I am looking at 15.

damn good looking set of books!

Sharon: Do you dress your doggies up in clothes? (she owns rescued Pomeranians)
Faith: NO! My gosh, no! They’re dogs, their fur is too beautiful to be dressed.

Sharon: Ever have a scary kayaking experience?
Faith: No, I am very wise about getting a good teacher, following someone down who knows the river. Now I might be terrified I’m gonna go over, and I am aware sometimes that I might get hurt. Because they will say if you miss your point on this, miss your line on this, you gonna get caught in the curl, you’re gonna flip and you’re gonna get hurt. So you tuck and hold or tuck and get out of your boat fast and swim like hell to the other side of the river. They will be very specific and tell you what to do. I can do small rivers without any problem.

Sharon: Are you a thrill seeker kind of person?
Faith: You know I’m really not, but I do whitewater kayaking. I think it’s about being in nature. You’re in with the water, in woods normally, you’re surrounded by water birds and native plants and trees and it’s just a very natural experience.

Sharon: Of the 7 deadly sins, which one did you commit most recently?
Faith: Gluttony (without hesitation I might add <G>) Every meal since I have been here has been gluttony.

Rapid Fire Time!

Sharon: Monty Python or SNL?
Faith: SNL, I’m not smart enough to get all Monty Python’s stuff, but I get SNL

Sharon: Business man or Cowboy?
Faith: yes…(laughter)

Sharon: Basket of chicks or Basket of snakes?
Faith: (long hesitation) Oh…they both have such wonderful opportunities. I’m sorry, but I am going to have to sit the fence on this with one foot in the basket of chicks and one foot in the basket of snakes.

Sharon: Vampire lover or vampire brother?
Faith: (more thoughtful hesitation) Oh, wow…I can’t answer that one because I’m in Jane’s head right now writing these books, and Jane is very conflicted about vampires. She finds them fascinating, but they do not do good things to her. They are not overly nice to her. So I’m just gonna have to sit on the fence with that one too. You know that is what we writers do. We have to be able to see both sides of the fence and think in the heads of both sides. So I see both, I like both…I’m torn.

Sharon: Hokey Pokey or Chicken Dance?
Faith: the chicken dance

go ahead and click on it, you know you want to...

*Faith did not offer to do the Chicken dance so no future blackmail opportunities*
