Jaded Vamp is a shorter read at only about 200 pages, which is actually pretty awesome. It takes just enough time to tell the story and make it very enjoyable in the process. Some books just don't need all the excess blah blah blah of fillers, some sometimes a book can just slay you at whatever length it is. This is one of those times!

I absolutely loved this darker romance, but I am usually drawn to the darker side of the reading road anyway. Along with the darkness comes some really well-written action and a love affair that burned the pages up! This was a new author for me, but I would read anything else she writes next. Got me hooked for more!

I received this review request on a Saturday evening, poolside with cocktails. I snickered as I read the description to my friends. Seriously? That’s the title? Full disclosure: I hate the word “horny.” It’s a terrible, gross word. I fully accepted this review assignment on a dare. I’m often a sucker for a dare unless I’m dared to utter the word “horny.” That’s a non-starter. Radley’s Home for Horny Monsters is a work of paranormal erotica … albeit a Clitoride Award-winning work of erotica. If you are easily offended, I would abandon this review now.

Mike is a deeply introverted web designer with tragic mommy issues. He unwittingly inherits a large Victorian-style home from a deceased aunt. He fends off a lucrative offer from a local historical society to purchase the home until he’s had the opportunity to explore the property. Mike quickly shifts from visitor to lord of the manor when he meets the home’s bevy of supernatural, monsters. And by meets, I mean he’s the recipient of an underwater blowjob in a vast clawfoot bathtub courtesy of the home’s resident water nymph. A goblin, banshee, and gargoyle round out the residents of the Radley home; all of whom have their way with Mike, separately and together. Mike soon develops a deep affinity for the home and its inhabitants and vows to protect their territory from an increasingly invasive threat.

This book is nothing if not entertaining. I began this read with relatively low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised by Hawthorne’s creativity, not only in descriptions of sexual adventure, but also the fantastic settings and plot. Obvious attributes aside, I was impressed by the Hawthorne’s supernatural imagination. I was legitimately creeped out by Jenny, the demonic porcelain doll. I did, admittedly, have countless eye-roll moments throughout the story. The male sexual perspective in the book is highly prevalent. I conducted a totally non-scientific poll among my friends and no one, save the male friend who dared me to read this book, found the prospect of “rope after rope of cum” at all titillating. Just messy. Moreover, the sheer number of women in this book – paranormal and human alike – capable of female ejaculation marks it as pure and utter fantasy.

There’s more to come. According to the author’s website and a teaser at the end of the book, RHFHM is set to be a series. It’s clear the Radley home has more secrets to reveal, but most importantly, will Mike explore the seemingly human women in the story-- Beth, the estate agent and Dana, the pizza delivery girl -- in future installments? I’d also like to mention the author showcases some pretty cool fan art on their site under “Annabelle Hawthorne Hall of Caretakers.”

Apparently, Hawthorne wrote this book on a dare. It would seem, at least in this case, that dares make the paranormal erotica world go ‘round.

I'd learned early on in life not to show weakness. Like messy emotions. Shedding tears in front of my family had a similar outcome to busting out of a shark cage wearing blood cologne.

The world hasn't treated Kayana Castello Branco particularly kindly. So it's no surprise to her when she literally bumps into her soul mate, only to find he's already taken. He's gorgeous, strong, smart, kind-every woman's ideal guy. Of course he's unavailable for soul-matey business.

When fate shows pity, putting Greg Morgan in her path a second time, the resulting collision is colossal. Their connection is epic, the stuff of romantic legends, fairy tales, sonnets. They're like Romeo and Juliet (only, the R-rated version).

But something has happened to Greg. Now, every time he gets near Ana, he gets long and hard…and pointy in the fang area. He doesn't know whether he wants to kiss her, lick her, do-that-thing-that-rhymes-with-duck her. Or bite and deprive her of every last molecule of haemoglobin.

Loving a newbie vampire with control issues really and truly sucks.

Was this book a PNR or Erotic? I couldn't tell at times and certainly didn't care. I mean damn, this is 100% rarrr type sex scenes going on, very explicit for those with weak hearts. You have been warned my friends! Read with caution and a fan nearby.

Aside from the undeniable sex scenes and epic level of romance, the story itself is fun and witty. At times I did find it read like an adult version of Twilight characters but I didn't care. I liked those books (haters gonna hate) and I enjoyed the movies for what they were. Maybe Minus Kristen Stewart.

That said, I would have liked a lot more action-packed pages and worldly adventure. Some darkness and grit to a PNR can really take the story a long way, in my personal opinion any way. It may have been a nice balance to all the sexy pages.

Overall, I enjoyed this one and certainly had a fun time reading our main pair and their interactions and believable dialog. If you want a hot read, this one is it.

“Go in,” Myrrh cajoled.

Debbie hesitantly went up the stairs of the church. Being a Saturday afternoon, the doors were closed, and no one was around. Debbie grasped the handle with a half-hearted tug, expecting it not to budge. Instead, the door opened smoothly, and she stepped inside. She approached the side of the altar, where candles were lit for those who had passed. She put in a donation, then lit one.

“You weren’t on the list,” she said tentatively, then cracked a smile. “But I’m sorry, Jett. This light’s for you. You weren’t a good man, and I still think that Shaker made you a much better one in the time he was with you. But please forgive me if you think I wronged you. And I hope you are at peace, for what happened to you.”

In succession, Debbie made more donations and lit candles, naming off the people she knew Shaker had harvested, including Amanda. As she closed the brief prayer for her former secretary, there was an angry hiss from behind her. Debbie wheeled around, lit taper in her hand. The ghost of Celia was there with glowing yellow eyes, her grin ghastly. “You think you can light a few candles and be forgiven?” she shrieked. “You will not be.”

Remember what Myrrh said. “I’m sorry,” Debbie said, not backing down. “But I didn’t kill you. Stop haunting me and be at peace. Your mother waits for you, Celia. Pass on and go to her.”

The ghost reached out, slashing at Debbie with her ragged nails, ripping four bloody furrows down her arm. Debbie yelped and staggered back, dropping the taper and clutching her bleeding flesh. From outside the church, twin howls sounded, angry and stymied.

The hellhounds. But they can’t get in! Likely Myrrh can’t either!

The ghost picked up the still-burning taper, which began to glow like a branding iron. “You’re not sorry. But you will be. Oh, you will be!”

The church’s twin doors slammed wide open, as Myrrh appeared, moving slowly as if slogging through knee-high mud. The murder of crows wheeled frantically in the sky behind her, cawing madly, diving toward the church, then away. In her hand was a ball of green fire. The ghost turned to her, screeching, claws outstretched.

“Go back to the grave, little girl,” Myrrh commanded, her blue eyes flashing. “Go back willingly, or I’ll end your haunting here. What remains of you will join my murder, until you have atoned for your crimes.”

“Demon!” Celia growled.

“You are becoming one, in your hate,” Myrrh intoned. “As such, you are fair game to me. I owe no allegiance to Heaven or Hell. Go back to the grave!”

Celia hissed, then launched herself at Myrrh.

“Have it your way.” Myrrh threw up both hands, the green fire shooting forward to engulf Celia, who screamed shrilly as she writhed in the eerie flames. The girl split in two, one misty form disappearing, the other solidifying and darkening as it shrunk, becoming a baby crow.

The last three books in Felicity Heaton’s Eternal Mates series have centered on the life and love of tiger shifter siblings Talon, Maya, and Grey. Treasured by a Tiger is Grey’s story, the tiger who has felt like the pride misfit his entire life. In his hellish quest for answers, Grey rescues Lyra an enslaved hellcat slated to be sold on the black market. Together the pair must escape Lyra’s captors and navigate their newfound romance all the while attempting to uncover the machinations of the malevolent, ever-present militaristic organization Archangel.

I’ve been reading Felicity Heaton’s Eternal Mates series since book #11, so while I’m not overly familiar with all inner workings of the Eternal Mates-iverse, I’ve come to rely on a few things where this series is concerned. First, most of the books I’ve read follow a similar arc where mates are fated for one another, but, through a series of events, must fight to unify. Often, the number one culprit is simple miscommunication. Next, Heaton is a premier writer of paranormal romance with emphasis on the romance. Heaton writes romance that’s sensual and expressive without becoming overly formulaic. Finally, I’ve never regretted reading a Heaton novel. Her books are reliably well-written and always entertaining. While new ground isn’t necessarily a priority with this series, the varied landscape and characters add new layers with each installment.

Eternal Mates is always a good time. Treasured by a Tiger is no exception.

Author Nollen Bradley: Yes, I wrote a Book! (Guardian Unforgiven book tour)

Yes, I wrote a Book!

 I get a laugh when I see the expression from some when they first here that I wrote a book. It usually starts with the puzzled look of confusion followed by a raised eye brow as they squint look me in the eye and say “You wrote a book?”

I usually say “Ya” or just nod my head yes as they ask the typical follow up questions which are as followed.

 “Is it any good?” Or the other question I prefer is “What’s it about?” I guess you could say I would rather give a non-bias Opinion. So, if they just ask a question about the book then I have inside knowledge and can answer each question in 
detail.

Trying to answer the question about the quality of the work is easy as well, but it will be extremely one sided. I tell them “it is the best book you’ll ever read.”

 As our conversation continues and they hear I wrote a book about werewolves the puzzled expression expands to wide eyes and a quick startled motion as they say “Werewolves, what the hell gave you that idea?”

 This again, is another simple question. If you have ever been by yourself out in a hay field about dark and several miles from the nearest person. I know you would understand. After all, all you are doing for hours is going around and round a field listening to the air conditioner blower, the radio and occasionally getting out of the cab to adjust, repair the machine or move a rock. Needless to say, you have a lot of time to think.

Especially when you are in a field surrounded by gigantic over grown trees circling the open field and the only way out is through a timber access road lined with overgrown brush, weeds, limbs or anything else that goes bump in the night.

 To assist in my inspiration this same timber road passes an old cemetery from a spur off of the old Fort Leavenworth Road that use to run on the land back in the eighteen hundred’s. This cemetery has several settlers buried in it.

But wait, there’s more… The same overgrown dirt path that is dark even in daylight runs next to the neighbor’s fence and of course on the neighbor’s property you can see an old yellow rock house with the roof caved. This old abandoned house plays a key role in this because as a child my father told me ghost stories with this same house as one of the main characters as we would drive by it. This is where the idea of my book started.

"...Getting up slowly recouping from the severe burning lacerations on my back, fighting the urge to turn, the Alpha female hits my side throwing me back onto the ground as she jumps on top. Her enormous body weight started to crush me. I punch her in the ribs with everything I had but it was only enough to piss her off.

I grabbed a piece of drift wood next to me and I jam it in the Alpha’s jaw sideways with my hands on each side of her mouth, and push as far back as I could. She started chomping the wood as I keep pushing with every ounce of strength I could muster.

Nollen Bradley is a pen name for Bradley Noll an American author residing near Leavenworth Kansas. The married, father of two grown children is new to the published author scene even though he has been writing song lyrics, poems and short stories all of his life.

Brad grew up on a farm outside of Winchester Kansas learning the value of hard work. Following college, Brad spent twelve years as a Paramedic until his second back surgery ending his successful career where he received several letters of commendation.
