Sheep Book Review: Archangel's Legion by Nalini Singh

Archangel's Legion (Guild Hunter #6)
By: Nalini Singh
Paranormal Romance
Release Date: October 29th 2013

Angels are falling from the sky in New York, struck down by a vicious, unknown force.

Vampires are dying impossibly of disease.

Guild hunter Elena Deveraux and the Archangel Raphael must discover the source of the wave of death before it engulfs their city and their people, leaving New York a ruin and Raphael’s Tower under siege by enemy archangels.

Yet even as they fight desperately to save the city, an even darker force is stirring, its chill eyes trained on New York…and on Raphael. Rivers of crimson and nightmares given flesh, the world will never again be the same…

Hands down, I love everything about the way Nalini Singh creates a story. The complex structure is reading candy, I crave it. While my dentist may tell me to lay off, she's still cashing those visit checks. So, win-win. Did Archangel's Legion hit my sweet tooth? I'm saying a...soft yes.

Elena and Raphael are two dynamic characters, the levels of emotion they can stir in me border on madness at times. I want them, and this whole Angel world, to be real! I cling to the idea of living in the Tower and, trust me, the first guy I'd hunt down is the sexy beef muffin Viper. He's all vampire and all mine.

So here we go into the latest edition and I find myself wanting more. Needing more. It's like this story stayed right on the cusp of an intangible incredible thing, but it just never spread it's wings and flew over that ledge. Maybe the constant weeping from Elena killed a little of my soul, maybe the ho-hum threat from the batshat crazy nemesis got taxing.

Whatever it was, something was not full-go-kick-me-in-the-face-and-get-me-wanting-more. THAT'S what I expect from Nalini. That's what I want and that's what I will continue to get or I will throw my body on the floor like a toddler and have me a nice old fashion fit!

Don't get me wrong, this is a very good story. Not great, but good and tens time better then most of what's out there now. But when you deliver the stellar Heart of Obsidian (review here) and then follow it up with something a little less amazing, I'm going to complain. Loudly. Here's why, Nalini can take it and she will deliver next time.

Singh's worlds are golden rays of barbed wire sunshine, wrapped in the most sexually charged pages, leaving you wanting more. Time and time again.

You can not and should not start this continuing series here. This is a saga that must be read in order.

I love this series and her Psy/Changeling series. I'm a faithful fan who will keep coming back for the next fix, time and again.

  1. Thanks for reviewing this. It is on my Kindle from NetGalley and I appreciate that you say to read the series in order. I picked it up bc I always want to read Nalini but haven't gotten to her. I don't want a bad experience so I may go back to the beginning.

    1. Steph, you should read them from the start. The slow build up is this whole world. It leads to THIS point, and while I wished there was more....Nalini is still one hell of a writer! :)

I look forward to hearing what you think!
