Sheep Book Review: Dead of Winter (The Arcana Chronicles) by Kresley Cole

Dead of Winter (The Arcana Chronicles Book 3)
By: Kresley Cole
Young Adult Paranormal with Romance
Pages: 320

Plot:
Heartbreaking decisions

Evie was almost seduced by the life of comfort that Death offered her—until Jack was threatened by two of the most horrific Arcana, The Lovers. She will do anything to save him, even escape Death’s uncanny prison, full of beautiful objects, material comforts…and stolen glances from a former love.

Uncertain victory
Despite leaving a part of her heart behind with Death, Evie sets out into a frozen and perilous post-apocalyptic wasteland to meet up with her allies and launch an attack on The Lovers and the vast army they command. Such formidable enemies require a battle plan, and the only way to kill them once and for all may mean Evie, Jack, and Death allying. Evie doesn’t know what will prove more impossible: surviving slavers, plague, Bagmen and other Arcana—or convincing Jack and Death to work together.

Two heroes returned

There’s a thin line between love and hate, and Evie just doesn’t know where she stands with either Jack or Death. Will this unlikely trio be able to defeat The Lovers without killing one another first?

WOW! I mean, WOW! There is no review that can describe the awesomeness that is Dead of Winter. None. It's just not possible to sum up the greatness of this story. Book three, we knew it was coming...and oh sweet undead baby vampires this story is epic!

Mrs. Cole is a demigod. It's true, you can look it up. She's something out of this world and frankly I don't care. Wherever she gets these ideas and this talent, I'm not complaining. Sold her soul to the darkside? Maybe, but we all know they have the best cookies anyway!

I swear to Hades I dislike most YA books. The teen angst is too much for me. *cringes* And while this series is written for the young adult, it's not actually a tween story. There is depth, history, and immortals of all kinds. The cards and the players in this game of life or death feel real. Every aspect of this world, feels real. Now, we all know I am cray-cray till Sunday after the fun day BUT trust me on this one. This world is one you want to free fall into. Don't worry, Mrs. Cole will be there to catch you and then the party gets started!

Evie has one hell of a decision to make. Her heart is torn between the two men she's come to love, does she stick with the human Jack or does she pick Death aka Aric? I'm not going to lie, I am pulling for Death. Jack just does not have it going on like Death does! I will admit, I talked to my son about the highlights of this story and his 8 year old mind said Evie should be with Jack. Since my son is clearly a traitor, he's no longer my book buddy! I have disowned speaking to my son about this story! hahaha (No, but really I have!)

Action and adventure ensue, as Evie has to take both men she loves on a journey to save one of their team members. These books get dark, and there is torture. So prepare yourself. YA has never been written like this and I hope Cole turns the saga to the adult side as the characters continue to grow and are faced with even more hardship.

If you love to read, if you love action and adventure, magic and mystery then grab this book. Grab this series. Grab some tissues and thank me with gifts of gold and vampire lovers.
