Half-bloods with Thierry’s skill set are given two options. They can join the conclave’s marshal program, or they can pack their bags. Turn down the job offer, and you’ve just shredded your residency pass for the mortal realm and booked yourself a one-way ticket to Faerie.

Texas is the only home Thierry has ever known, and she’s not going anywhere. Even if it means following in her notorious father’s footsteps as a peacekeeper. But pinning on the badge opens her eyes to the fact sometimes fae need protection too, and that sometimes humans are the real monsters.

One of my favorite authors, SM Reine, recommended this author in her newsletter and I decided I would give it a try. I have found new favorite authors this way and I can say that this time was no different.

Dog with a Bone is the first book in the Black Dog series. Thierry is a half-blood who had no choice but to go to the university to become a marshal for the conclave. Her only other choice was to live in Faerie forever and that was not on her to-do list. Shaw is her instructor and also an incubus full of sexual power. Thierry has ideas about crossing the line personal/professional line every time she thinks about him. A short first book for my tastes, but I’m looking forward to checking out more books in this series by Hailey Edwards.
