Creepshow: The Suspense Building Game from Skybound

Releasing this fall, Creepshow: The Suspense Building Game, is based on the Eisner-award nominated comic book anthology from Skybound, which was originally inspired by Greg Nicotero’s hit Shudder TV series produced and licensed by Cartel Entertainment. The deal was brokered by Striker Entertainment.

The “Wheel of Awesome”

Now this fall, tabletop fans and Creepshow readers alike will be able to experience the IP in a whole new way by becoming a creep themselves, where the creepiest gameplay strategy wins...or does it?

Make your next game night even CREEPIER: Spin some tales and dig some graves in this ghoulish storytelling game!

Welcome to Creepshow, a wicked story-building game where players become Creeps and weave twisted tales where dastardly deviants meet well-earned demises. You’ll need strategy and cunning for this game, and to know when to push your luck because deception could be waiting at every turn. Creeps create chains of story cards and secretly fill them with Suspense. At key moments in the story, when tension is highest, Creeps can bet on the amount of Suspense to score big. But beware of other Creeps sabotaging the story, you just may lose your head!
The game includes 54 Story Cards, : 9 Ending Cards, 34 Double Sided Point Tokens, and 5 Reference Cards. Creepshow: The Suspense Building Game was designed by Skybound duo Ben Kepner and Dan Strong, and features artwork from various designers from the Skybound original comic book anthology of the same name.

Creepshow: The Suspense Building Game will launch later this fall and retail for $19.99.

Comic Review: Creepshow, Vol. 2 #1 (OF 5) from Skybound

Creepshow, Vol. 2 #1 (OF 5)
Series: Creepshow
September 13, 2023
Writers: Phil Hester, Garth Ennis
Artists: Phil Hester, Becky Cloonan
Cover A: Guillem March
Cover B: Becky Cloonan
Cover C: Skinner
Imprint: Skybound (Image Comic)
MINISERIES PREMIERE

The smash-hit horror anthology based on the hit Shudder TV series is back and CREEPIER than ever!

In the debut issue, master of the macabre GARTH ENNIS (Preacher, The Boys) and superstar creator BECKY CLOONAN (Wonder Woman) team up for the very first time to deliver a disturbing tale of the unborn!

Then, freaky PHIL HESTER (Gotham City: Year One) tells the story of a grieving son who bends the laws of nature to see his mother one last time…this can’t end well!

Each issue of CREEPSHOW, VOL. 2 will feature different creative teams with uniquely horrifying standalone stories and a 1:10 connecting cover from iconic horror artist SKINNER!

It's baaaack! Volume 2 #1 of Creepshow starts us off with two stories of madness and monsters (of the humankind).

The first story "Make Your Choice" is about religious hypocrisy and retribution. The subject matter could be disturbing and I was surprised at how dark it went...but it makes its point. I'm with the writer on this one.

The second story "Fossil Record" Is a new take on an old horror classic, the zombie. It also has a classic horror ending...was it real or was it all in his head (pun intended! LOLOL)? If you read this issue you'll realize how funny that joke was.

Some people like to read horror, but not "see" horror. Some like to "see" horror but not read it. Then there are those of us who love both! With awesome storytelling and talented artists, Creepshow brings to life what we've been craving.

Comic Review: Creepshow Issue #2 (of 5) from SkyBound Entertainment (Image Comics)

Creepshow #2 (of 5)
Series: Creepshow
Arriving: October 26, 2022
Diamond ID: AUG220174
Imprint: Skybound
Image Comics
The Creep scares up two all-new standalone stories in this star-studded anthology based on the hit Shudder TV series.

DAVID & MARIA LAPHAM (STRAY BULLETS) terrify with the tale of a tree whose roots grew so deep they reached Hell...and the girl who sat beneath it.

STEVE FOXE (RAZORBLADES) and KELLEY JONES (Batman Sandman) share the shocking story of legendary comic creator Sal Medina-and the dedicated fan who went too far.

I forgot how much I love this format for horror storytelling. I remember reading reprints of Tales from the Crypt (my mom use to read them and told me about them.) I've never watched the Creepshow TV show on Shudder TV, but I heard about it becoming a comic book... I couldn't wait to indulge. My GenZ daughter once told me when I talked about all the cool stuff from my generation, "Is it really good, or is it just nostalgia?" HA! Creepshow #2 (I missed issue #1 *sob*) was both.

The nostalgia was comforting and the two stories in issue #2, "The Gorgamorahh Tree" and "Creator's Rites," are everything I love about horror comic shorts. I can't talk about the stories because that would spoil the fun. But if you enjoy horror anthology comics you will definitely want to check out Creepshow from SkyBound.

Check out the artwork for each story.
