More than two decades have passed since Sarah Connor prevented Judgment Day, changed the future, and re-wrote the fate of the human race. Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes) is living a simple life in Mexico City with her brother (Diego Boneta) and father when a highly advanced and deadly new Terminator -- a Rev-9 (Gabriel Luna) -- travels back through time to hunt and kill her. Dani's survival depends on her joining forces with two warriors: Grace (Mackenzie Davis), an enhanced super-soldier from the future, and a battle-hardened Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). As the Rev-9 ruthlessly destroys everything and everyone in its path on the hunt for Dani, the three are led to a T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) from Sarah's past that may be their last best hope.

Went to see Terminator: Dark Fate last weekend with my husband. I wanted it to be good...I hoped it would be good...but it wasn't. The script was awful. Now, I love a good action movie and this had a ton of really fun over the top scenes. But for some reason that wasn't enough for me this time. Maybe I had too many expectations.

I loved Grace (Mackenzie Davis). Who knew I had a type! I was glad Linda Hamilton was in it. She's never been the best actress, but combine that with awful dialog...

Arnold can't act either but he's made for the role of a robotic character. The "new" terminator was pretty cool. The metal skeleton and the covering can operate separately.

It is a big action movie so seeing the special effects on the big screen is fun but you might want to save your money for something else and catch Terminator: Dark Fate on DVD.

My husband gave it 3 1/2

I give it 2.75 "You never should have come back" Sheep

Double Movie Review: TERMINATOR GENISYS

TERMINATOR GENISYS
Directed by: Alan Taylor
Rated: PG-13
Cast: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jai Courtney, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke
Plot:
When John Connor (Jason Clarke), leader of the human resistance against Skynet, sends Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to protect his mother, Sarah (Emilia Clarke), from a Terminator assassin, an unexpected turn of events creates an altered timeline. Instead of a scared waitress, Sarah is a skilled fighter and has a Terminator guardian (Arnold Schwarzenegger) by her side. Faced with unlikely allies and dangerous new enemies, Reese sets out on an unexpected new mission: reset the future.

Katie's review
Arnold is back! It's no big secret though, since he said it in Terminator 2. Plus probably every other movie he's ever been in. The Austria man is a genius at one liners. I love it and love every cheesy muscled bit of him. The latest edition of the robo human haters was entertaining and CGI spectacular. I'm loving all the summer movies this year in the San Francisco bay. Shout-outs to my area!

Time travel timelines get a tad bit confusing, who was sent when and why? What the heck was going on at the very end and will we ever know the winner of this bot war? Well, who knows but you get what you get with this one.

I love the actress Emilia Clarke, and she's awesome in Game of Thrones, but let's compare her to Linda Hamilton who played Sarah Connor. Emilia was not that badass, ripped out fighter chick who busted physic wards melons. She's got a soft baby face and not those sharp edges you would expect a chick who knows what these machine feckers can do. I was disappointed she didn't get more into the role, this time around the character Sarah is much more reliant on her robo Pop to get her through life.

Overall, I was impressed when I thought this installment would just be another let down. The older actors in Hollywood tend to get pushed aside and forgotten sometimes, Arnold shows us that no matter your age you can still kick ass and take names!

Sharon's review
I saw it with my husband and 14 year old daughter. Don and I have seen all the previous Terminators, Holly has not. She wasn't all that impressed with it. She loved all the CGI effects—they blow a lot of s*** up. But she doesn't really like the robots take over the world idea. She also was confused by the time line shuffling they did. At the end there are two time lines still happening and one of them should have disappeared, but it might have because of the last scene (you got to stay past the first part of the credits for that extra scene.)

This left movie left me torn. I wanted to love it, but there were a few things that bugged me. The story line twists they came up with to make it work with the earlier movies was fantastic. I would give it 5 sheep for that and the visual effects, but...I wasn't impressed with the execution of it. It seems like they cut corners on paying their script writers in order to pay the special effects people more.

Another big problem for me was picturing the "new" Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese. My brain just didn't want to accept those actors in such iconic roles. Especially Emilia Clarke. She looks barely 16. Kind of hard to accept her as Sarah Connor. Jason Clarke as John Connor was an easy sell.

I didn't feel like the one liners were well timed. They felt forced into the dialogue because they had to be there.

If you are interested in just the story line then there is no reason to see this on the big screen, but if you love special effects/great CGI then you will want to see it at the theaters.

Biotechnician Elise Fong is destined to discover a vital weapon against the Terminators, and Skynet has no intention of waiting until she does! Targeted for actions in her future, Fong’s only hope in the present is the ex-CIA operative tasked with kidnapping her. But can even CIA training stop a T-800?

To this day, Terminator 2: Judgment Day remains one of my all-favorite movies. I hadn't seen the first Terminator movie at the time its sequel hit theaters, but that didn't matter. Arnold Schwarzenegger as a cyborg sent back in time to protect the leader of a human resistance against machines? A thirteen-year-old boy hears a premise like that and he's on board, no questions asked.

The sequels beyond that, however...sigh. Sufficed to say they've fallen well short of the mark. So maybe a different medium is needed to recapture that boyhood wonder. Enter The Terminator: Enemy of My Enemy.

Set in 1985, shortly after the events of the original Terminator film, a new T-800 has arrived from the future, only this time Skynet sends it in search of a scientist in New York City. Cosmetically different than the first Terminator, there's no sign of Arnold. There's no sign of Sarah Conner, either. This is a completely divergent storyline here, featuring a new protagonist in the form of a female super agent named Farrow Greene, tasked with delivering Dr. Elise Fong to her employers safe and sound, no questions asked. But when she runs afoul of the T-800, questions abound.

The first issue wound up being a bit underwhelming for me, in so much that I had sky-high expectations for a Terminator story. Maybe I should have lowered the expectations a bit given the lackluster productions from years past, but Dan Jolley is a heckuva writer, and while he's honed in on a ass-kicking female protagonist, this inaugural issue just fell a bit short of getting me on the bandwagon. A metric ton of action, however, kept me engaged going into the second issue.

And that's where things really heat up. Dr. Fong is holding information back from Greene, even when it seems the T-800 and other forces are at work to put her six feet under. Throw in a flash-forward that offers a new twist to the backstory on this one, further contextualizing the Termintor universe as a whole, and I'm definitely on the bandwagon to see how the third issue shapes up.
