Went to see Terminator: Dark Fate last weekend with my husband. I wanted it to be good...I hoped it would be good...but it wasn't. The script was awful. Now, I love a good action movie and this had a ton of really fun over the top scenes. But for some reason that wasn't enough for me this time. Maybe I had too many expectations.

I loved Grace (Mackenzie Davis). Who knew I had a type! I was glad Linda Hamilton was in it. She's never been the best actress, but combine that with awful dialog...

Arnold can't act either but he's made for the role of a robotic character. The "new" terminator was pretty cool. The metal skeleton and the covering can operate separately.

It is a big action movie so seeing the special effects on the big screen is fun but you might want to save your money for something else and catch Terminator: Dark Fate on DVD.

When a massive hurricane hits her Florida hometown, Haley (Kaya Scodelario) ignores evacuation orders to search for her missing father (Barry Pepper). Finding him gravely injured in the crawl space of their family home, the two become trapped by quickly encroaching floodwaters. As time runs out to escape the strengthening storm, Haley and her father discover that the rising water level is the least of their fears.

Went to see Crawl with my 18-year-old daughter and my sister-in-law. We were all in agreement on this one. It was okay. Does the man-eating beast genre well. But probably would have made a better TV movie instead of a $10 a ticket big screen one. The plot isn't bad, but the people make constant "covienent" mistakes that get them in trouble. Typical horror movie stuff. But what father tells their daughter to swim through the monster-infested water to save them?

There are lots of jump scares, some were pretty good most predictable. But still lots of fun to scream and laugh with friends about. And while this is fiction, how many limbs can a person get mauled before they can't fight and swim/run anymore? Apparently, more than two.

The best part was the alligators. I don't know how much was CGI or if any of it was real, but they looked great! 

Another important thing...there is a dog (named Sugar). I don't want to spoil so you have to highlight the black box to know if the dog lives: YES!

If you like these type of movies then you will want to rent/on-demand this one. It's worth seeing, just not at theater prices.

Went to see Overlord with my 17-year-old daughter. If you are looking for a monster horror movie you might be disappointed.  The monsters are truly horrifying and the way they move :shudder: but you really don't get to see them until the last 30 minutes of the movie. It is all about the suspense of what the Nazi's are doing in their lab. The viewer discovers what's going on along with the characters. And the movie has plenty of suspense and does a good job of immersing the viewers in the action. But they go a little overboard with the jump scares.

The movie focuses a lot on the horrors of war and what it might have been like to fight in WWII. The most intense scene is in the very beginning when the soldiers are flying into France and parachute to the ground. 

I thought the movie could have been a little shorter and the female character, while badass, really wasn't necessary to the plot. The special effects rocked and if you're squeamish you might want to skip Overlord.

If lots of suspense and a good dose of horror are your thing then you will probably enjoy it. Seeing it on the big screen will help you appreciate the action scenes better.

Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby also join the dynamic cast with filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie returning to the helm.

Went to see Mission Impossible - Fallout with my husband and 17-year-old daughter. My daughter has never cared for the Mission Impossible movies. She thinks they move too slow. And this one was no different to her.

My husband and I thought it was entertaining. It is over the top crazy...Ethan Hunt survives things no human can. The Mission Impossible movies are more like superhero movies. Hell, Superman (Henry Cavill) is in it! Looking good too.

If you've enjoyed the previous MI movies then you will love this one. I'm not a Tom Cruise fan, but he makes a great Ethan Hunt. And Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames always make me laugh. The big special effects are great for the big screen and MI is worth a matinee price.

In the modern horror thriller A QUIET PLACE, a family of four must navigate their lives in silence after mysterious creatures that hunt by sound threatens their survival. If they hear you, they hunt you.

A Quiet Place is a 2018 American science fiction horror film directed by John Krasinski, who also stars alongside Emily Blunt, his real-life spouse. The screenplay was written by Krasinski, Bryan Woods, and Scott Beck, based on a story by Woods and Beck. The plot follows a family who must live life in silence while hiding from alien creatures who are blind and track by sound, that have overrun the Earth in 2020.

The Abbott family - husband Lee, wife Evelyn, deaf daughter Regan (John Krasinski cast deaf actress Millicent Simmonds to play the daughter, Regan), sons Marcus and Beau - scavenge for supplies while remaining as silent as possible and communicating through sign language. Lee relieves Beau of a toy space shuttle warning him that its noise could attract the creatures and removes the batteries. Taking pity on him, Regan returns the toy to Beau who, unseen by the family, restores the batteries. Later, Beau turns on the toy and attracts one of the creatures, which slaughters him. A year later, they live on a farm, and Evelyn is pregnant. Son Marcus is frightened because of the creatures, especially when his father wants him at one point to learn how he checks out his traps for fish in a nearby river, while Regan begins to act like a rebellious preteen who also blames herself for Beau’s death.

It came to me why this sleek and accomplished dystopian film works so well in its horror, after watching one I saw in theaters in 1998. In the 90s film, you see a lot of gore and watch as the monsters kill and digest their victims. Gore never scares me, it just makes me want to puke. In A Quiet Place, except for the corpse of one dead old woman, you never see how the creatures kill those they catch. Plus, you don’t see the whole monster until close to the end. This leaves it up to the audience to imagine things, to leave them in suspense. Like what was done with The Haunting (1963), a scary ghost story, as one example.

If you like a good scary movie that will scare and unsettle you, but without all the gore that makes you sick, A Quiet Place, should be your choice for your movie viewing.

Most everyone knows about my Optimus Prime crush, so anytime my main metal man is on the big screen I gotta go. 

What a disappointment...again. The last movie had transforming dinosaurs! How could they mess that up...but they did. It seemed like with The Last Knight, they decided to just string together lots of high quality action sequences and explosions (don't get me wrong, I LOVE action and explosions) and maybe the audience won't notice the lame-a$$ plot. Transformers and King Arthur? Really? And it is time to let Megan Fox go, Mr. Bay. Casting an adult and young adult version of her was a bit much.

The Last Knight was 2 hours and 29 minutes long...159 minutes...I was visually exhausted and bored during the big show down...and this was when my hard piece of Autobot kicked some serious Decepticon butt. O.P. (that's what I call him) didn't get a lot of screen time. A little at the beginning when the floating tentacle lady hypnotized him and then at the end when Bumble Bee's magical voice saved him... There were some kids in the audience and they laughed a lot. The humor in the first two movies was perfect. In The Last Knight all the jokes fell flat and were poorly timed.

Seeing the movie on the big screen will let you appreciate the special effects but catch a matinee. Wait for it to show up for free on Netflix where you can fast forward. I wasn't happy with the movie but my husband gave it 3.5 sheep because of all the action. I'm not as forgiving.

A surprise attack in outer space forces the Enterprise to crash-land on a mysterious world. The assault came from Krall (Idris Elba), a lizard-like dictator who derives his energy by sucking the life out of his victims. Krall needs an ancient and valuable artifact that's aboard the badly damaged starship. Left stranded in a rugged wilderness, Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto) and the rest of the crew must now battle a deadly alien race while trying to find a way off their hostile planet.

It has been 966 days (an Easter egg for Star Trek fans-can you guess?) since Kirk has led the crew of the USS Enterprise on its five-year mission. He is questioning why he is doing it and having reached his birthday—a year younger than the age his father died, after docking at a massive space station—the Yorktown—he even approaches a superior over him about maybe giving Spock command of the ship. Instead, she asks him take an alien woman who has a stranded ship in a nebula that no other help can reach. Once through the nebula and at a Class M planet, they are attacked by an overwhelming enemy in what's easily the movie's most visually dazzling sequence. The crew, who has not died, escape in pods and the saucer crashes down on the planet. There, the scattered crew must try to thwart the genocidal aims of Krall.

The Star Trek I knew and loved is back, at least about ninety per cent. Simon Pegg (Scotty), with Doug Jung, wrote the screen play. Yes, there are ticks here and there, and still the action we come to expect from action oriented films these days, instead of a cerebral Star Trek old time fans love, but I did enjoy the movie. Director Justin Lin does a good job managing the action. Kirk is no longer that irresponsible fool, but a serious, soul searching man, who wonders if he should even do his star trek. Spock and McCoy are the only characters from the first two movies I liked, as the actors acted like the way DeForest Kelley and Leonard Nimoy had brought heir characters to life. The crew began to feel like family, though the action doesn’t give enough room or time to expand on this aspect. As for the alien bad guy, he is nasty, but not bone chilling evil enough. I like that they used a new bad guy and not someone from before, but he was more cookie cutter warrior type with a grudge.

After the disappointment of Independence Day: Resurgence, at least this a movie I can admit I would go watch again. Is this Star Trek on the level of Trek’s best episodes, “City on the Edge of Forever” or the film, Wrath of Khan, or others like that? Not completely, but it does satisfy.

Stepdad, Brad Whitaker, is a radio host trying to get his stepchildren to love him and call him Dad. But his plans turn upside down when the biological father, Dusty Mayron, returns.

This was pretty much what you expect. The trailer is pretty accurate. The story was predictable, but it was still a lot of fun. I went with my husband and 14 year old daughter and we all laughed. The ending is hilarious.

If you are looking for something to do on a cold or rainy day this is worth a matinee price. Seeing it on the big screen won't make it better so if you are a DVD kind of person then grab it if you like these kind of movies. Young adults will love it, but be careful with how young since there is some language and sexual humor.

What could possibly go wrong when three buddies (Tye Sheridan, Logan Miller, Joey Morgan) decide to join the Boy Scouts? When bloodthirsty, undead ghouls invade their once-peaceful town, it's up to kindhearted Ben, quick-witted Carter and class clown Augie to save the day. With help from Denise (Sarah Dumont), a beautiful but tough cocktail waitress, the boys must put their scouting skills to the ultimate test to save mankind and earn their zombie-killing badges.

I was so excited when I saw the promos for this one and looked forward to seeing it. I think it was at the theater...never...or maybe one weekend. It just disappeared and that is always a bad sign. When lo and behold it showed up On Demand so the whole family decided to watch it (me, husband, 14 and 20 year old daughters)! We all have the same taste in movies. There was a mixed bag of reactions. My husband loved it. The three boys coming of age stuff in the beginning...the girls and I thought that part was boring and we were no longer surprised that it died a quick cinematic death. But the second half of the movie rocked and was what we were expecting from this type of movie. It is basically a crude, silly, humor, horror flick. Lots of boob and penis jokes and of course zombie killing. Everything from start to finish was predictable and cliche, but it had one of the best penis sight gags I've seen. 

If you can grab this one for cheap and like stupid crude humor then go for it. There are some great scenes sprinkled throughout. Best seen with a bunch of friends so you can riff on it.
