Immortal dragons can’t mate with humans… or can they?

500 years ago, Yora went into magical stasis to escape her violent life as the Sage of Wrath. Now she’s awoken because a hunted dragon shifter needs help, but the last thing she wants is to go back to war.

She’d much rather stay in her cottage with the dragon, Zan, and eat every kind of ice cream she can imagine. Even if she knows better than to give in to the rush she feels around him… Dragons can’t mate with humans, and soon Zan will have to leave again.

But the dragon’s flight has brought danger to Yora’s doorstep. Dark powers are desperate to claim her destructive powers for themselves, and they’ll stop at nothing to bring her under their control.

Yora knows how to use her wrath to destroy. But if she can harness that same magic to build instead, maybe she can protect her found family in Crystal Hollow—and find a way to stay with Zan for all of their days, too.

The Quiet Light is the first book of an ice cream-filled spicy cozy fantasy romance trilogy in the world of Sage’s Sanctuary, where the most powerful and vulnerable alike find refuge in an isolated mountain cottage with only one bed. Sage’s Sanctuary is full of dragon encounters, tender romance and hilarious banter, building community and having each other’s backs, and finding who you are and what you stand for.

Genre: Reverse Harem Paranormal Romance
A rejected princess. Four outcasted princes. A revenge plot that brings them together.

In the land of Dragaal, at eighteen, it was expected that every shifter would shift for the first time into their dragon. Only Kaida Hilmir's never emerged. She keeps it a secret, hoping that her dragon will show itself in time.

When she is requested to meet Prince Enzo as a possible bride of his choosing, Kaida learns that Enzo is her Fated Mate. As their ceremony is planned, Kaida keeps her dragonless status hidden. Then, the King demands that she show her dragon to everyone.

She was rejected in the process and dropped off in the Outcast Lands.

As she mends her broken heart, four sexy as-sin Elemental Princes offer her a deal of a lifetime. Help them ascend to the throne, and they will help unlock her dragon. Only they hate her guts, and they don’t hide it.

Will she survive their training long enough to get her revenge?

Season 1: The Dragon Throne
Season 2: Lycan Wars

“Kaida, my dear. There is something we need to ask of you to do before the party ends if that is okay with you.”

Kaida bowed her head. “Absolutely, Your Highness. What do I need to do?”

With a wicked smile forming on the queen’s face, Kaida immediately regretted agreeing to the task. She already knew what was coming. The one thing that she dreaded.

“We are going to need you to shift for us. Never mind the excuse of her not getting along with others,” Nande said to her while holding up her hand to show Kaida to keep her mouth shut, “it’s either you shift, or there is no ceremony tomorrow.”

“Excuse me?” Enzo challenged and blocked Kaida’s body by turning his toward his mother.

“Well, we need to be sure she is powerful enough to rule this kingdom, my dear, or we have failed Dragaal as King and Queen.”

“Bullshit, this is just your way of controlling everything. You do not get to decide my fate with my mate,” Enzo continued to defend her.

Nande ignored her son, “Shift, Kaida. Now.”

Kaida felt the queen’s words roll over her skin. It was a way to assist in shifts that the King and Queen could do. It was usual for a dragon to shift back into their human form when they got stuck. She could feel the command’s magic sink into her skin…but nothing happened. Kaida hoped that it was due to her not being in her dragon form, but she knew that wasn’t the case.

Time seemed to go slower than usual as Kaida stared into Nande’s eyes. Gemar was standing behind his mate, and Kaida could feel all eyes on her inside the room. Kaida began to shake as her nerves went crazy inside her, knowing the shift would never come.

“I knew it. She is dragonless!” Nande practically said with glee.

Kaida was confused by the happy tone in the queen’s voice. She couldn’t sort through the confusion because her attention went to Enzo. He was now slowly standing before her, his eyes full of rage. Kaida shrank into her chair as a bright green color flashed inside his eyes.

“Kaida Hilmir, I reject you."

Dragon Untamed (The Dragon’s Throne Book 2)

Her dragon has emerged. The four princes can’t control her. A war brewing between Dragaal and the rejected.

Kaida is a Plasma Dragon and can’t seem to control its power. With her randomly shifting and causing havoc throughout the island, Kaida isn’t sure if she is safe around anyone. Beckett, Arlo, and Esen do their best to find the solution to taming her dragon before it kills someone and alerts the king to what kind of dragon she is and how her power is a contender for the throne.

The cons of her being a Plasma dragon escalate when Enzo returns to the island to talk to Kaida. Between the Elemental Princes, the Prince of Dragaal’s return and possible report back to the king, and her dragon bowing to no one… Kaida isn’t sure how she is going to survive.

Will Enzo keep her secret? Will the Elemental Princes all come around to be at Kaida’s side? Or will the King march his army to the Lands of the Outcasted and set fire to her new world?

With the barrier down, Kaida and her men must plan their attack against the kingdom to claim the throne. When Kaida and Enzo visit the kingdom to learn what King Gemar knows, they learn just how dangerous he can be.

As the princes attempt to rally islanders to fight against the kingdom, Blaze is infected with the Dark Dimension. Kaida tries to claim Blaze as her mate, but the Dark Dimension's hold on Blaze is stronger than she experienced in anyone else. Her attempts prove to be futile and Kaida believes her bond with Blaze is the key to stopping Gemar and bringing order back to Dragaal.

Will Kaida lose Blaze to the Dark Dimension and her place on the throne?

New Release: Hidden Dragon (The Treasure of Paragon Book 7) by Genevieve Jack + excerpt

by Genevieve Jack
April 27, 2021
266 pages
No one ever promised forever would be easy.

Dianthe's second sight has always been both a blessing and a curse. She can't control her visions, yet they're unerringly accurate... until an erroneous prophecy results in the destruction of her homeland. The revelation crushes her spirit and endangers her role as an officer in the rebellion to take back the kingdom of Paragon.

Sylas, dragon shifter and exiled prince, is the leader of the rebellion, but he can no longer rely on his mate Dianthe's psychic powers. His inner dragon is secretly pleased to relegate her to the sidelines. Even if his decision temporarily drives her away, he'd rather have her angry than dead or worse.

When changing circumstances accelerate the rebellion's plans, Dianthe’s fairy roots make her the only one who can perform a dangerous and necessary task. Her need to prove herself soon collides with Sylas's desire to protect her and strains their connection to the breaking point. Dragon mating bonds are eternal, but if Dianthe and Sylas don't find a way back to each other, not only will their marriage fail, their mission to reclaim Paragon will as well.

EXCERPT
He joined her at the kitchen table and dipped his finger into the batter inside the powder-blue bowl she worked over. He stole a taste. “Mmmm. You’re making crizzle rolls. My favorite.”

“Sylas!” Dianthe smacked his shoulder. “That’s for the party tonight. You don’t want to show up at Elder Tree empty-handed, do you?”

“They won’t miss a mouthful.” He smacked his lips. “There’s something different.”

“I added a little lemon and fever fruit. Trader’s spice.”

He scooped up another dollop and popped it in his mouth. “Yes, the trader’s spice makes it,” he mumbled around his finger.

“Goddess have you, Sylas, I’m serious! Get your hands out of my bowl.” She turned the full weight of her heavily annoyed stare on him.

He took it as a challenge. “Hmm. If I can’t have the batter, what can I do to keep my mouth busy?” Reaching for her, he traced along the skin of her shoulder with the back of his nails.

She lowered her chin and stared up at him through impossibly thick lashes. “If I hadn’t known what I was getting into mating a dragon, I’d tell you to go suck an egg.” Wings fluttering, she allowed the spoon to clink against the side of the bowl. She wrapped her arms around his neck. “Lucky for you, I knew exactly what I was getting into mating a dragon, and I have far better uses for that naughty mouth.”

A deep, vibrating purr rumbled in his chest when her mouth met his, her full lips tasting of crizzle batter and the remains of her smile. He hoisted her up his body, felt her legs wrap around his hips. The world melted away. All his responsibilities, the horrors he’d seen over his years leading the rebellion, all of it retreated to the back of his mind and pure joy filled his heart. Goddess, he wanted her. Wanted to bury himself in her for days. Wanted to taste every inch of her.

He pushed the bowl aside and lowered his mate to the table, reaching for the buttons of her dress.

“Sylas, stop. Wait.” Dianthe’s lashes fluttered.

Sylas froze. Her eyes rolled back in the way they did when she was seized by a vision; her stomach tensed rigidly. A tremble rattled her body. He supported her with his arms as the magic rolled through her.

“What is it? What do you see?”

Her eyes widened in terror, her entire body quaking under him.

He held her tighter. “I’ve got you. I’ve got you. Tell me what you’ve seen.”

“Everfield… on fire. The Obsidian Guard is coming.”

Excerpt:Dragon Lost: A Dark Kings Novella by Donna Grant

by Donna Grant
February 25, 2020
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Donna Grant comes a new story in her Dark Kings series…

Destinies can’t be ignored. No one knows that better than Annita. For as long as she can remember, it's been foretold she would find a dragon. A real-life dragon. She’s beginning to think it was all some kind of mistake until she’s swimming in one of the many caves around the island and discovers none other than a dragon. There is no fear as she approaches, utterly transfixed at the sight of the creature. Then he shifts into the shape of a thoroughly gorgeous man who spears her with bright blue eyes. In that instant, she knows her destiny has arrived. And the dragon holds the key to everything.

All Royden wanted was to find an item his brother buried when they were children. It was supposed to be a quick and simple trip, but he should’ve known nothing would be easy with enemies like the Dragon Kings have. Royden has no choice but to trust the beguiling woman who tempts him like no other. And in doing so, they unleash a love so strong, so pure that nothing can hold it back.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

EXCERPT:
“Who are you?” she repeated, this time with authority in her voice.

Royden didn’t want to like her, but he did. It took serious courage to stand up to a stranger in a cave, much less one who had used magic. He’d probably have to get Guy to come and wipe the mortal’s memory of him. So much for no one at Dreagan knowing he was gone. Shite. This wasn’t turning out as he’d hoped.

He threw her question back at her. “Who are you?”

“Annita Dragoumis. This is my family’s land, and you’re trespassing.”

There was something about her bossy tone that went straight to his cock. Which was the last thing he needed. “I willna be long. I just need a few hours.”

“For what?”

He sighed, doing his best to keep his patience. “I’m looking for something.”

“Sure you are. The fact remains that you aren’t supposed to be here.”

Royden was finished playing games. He knew he was in for a world of problems now that a mortal hadn’t just seen him in dragon form but had also seen him shift. He needed to turn the tables on her and quickly.

“You’re in a dark cave with a man you doona know, and you’re issuing demands?”

Her eyes narrowed. “You aren’t Greek.”

“No’ in the least,” he stated.

For a heartbeat, she stared at him as if trying to figure out his accent. “Welsh?”

“Now that stings, lass.” Though he was impressed that she knew English.

“Scottish,” she said with a smile. “You’re from Scotland.”

Royden bowed his head. “Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, it’s time for you to leave and forget you’ve seen me.”

Annita shook her head of dark brown hair. “I can’t do that.”

She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind or stand up to an unknown man in a cave, and she could speak fluent English. Who was this woman?

Alpha Male Diner: Dragon Stew (Fire Born by Rayanne Haines)

Welcome. Come on in for a taste of Dragon Stew. A dish best served with dark rum on the rocks, a roaring fire, and massage oil. My name is Rayanne and I’ll be your server—until the lights go dim that is. I hope you’re ready for a beast that’s spent two thousand years honing his skills. A don’t be afraid when you feel silk wings wrap around you in the dark. Sink in. Let the meal begin.

Ingredients:
-Six-foot, Six-inches of muscles forged in the mountains of Vahalla

-Two-thousand years of fire, fighting, and sex

-One ancient dragon residing within

-Eyes a mix of shadow and steel

-A dash of mind control

-Unbound loyalty to those he loves

Seasoning:
-Muscled arms covered in tattoos that tell the story of a time forgotten

-One packet of solitary predator

-Attitude, oh attitude, how we need to stir you in.

-A few jagged edges, broken pieces

-Careful kindness

Mix in a newbie immortal with a tenuous hold over fire, a family secret, and a war with the elementals. Our Dragon likes alone time. Don’t be surprised if he doesn’t sweep you away from this party for something a little more . . . intimate.

Warning. Collum, King of the Dragons and Guardians of the Immortals, never quits and never loses.

Taste Test

Collum woke up with a headache. Too much fighting and Diplomatico rum the night before hadn't done him any favors. He swung his six-foot six-inch, two-hundred and fifty-pound frame to the edge of the bed, and pushed his hands through inky hair before massaging his temples. He was big enough and dangerous enough that he was generally left alone. Which made his line of work a little easier . . .

He walked to the window and closed the blinds. His condo was on the top floor of a building that overlooked Stanley Park and the Pacific Ocean. A view most people would kill to have. Collum didn't give a shit.

Pulling on his track pants, he turned to study his reflection in the full-length mirror. Eyes a mix of shadow and steel stared back at him. Eyes that looked tired and cynical. His muscled arms were covered in tattoos that told the story of a time forgotten. A time that had shaped mankind. He worked hard saving the world from shit on a daily basis, with no thanks. He’d stopped looking for thanks a long time ago. His father made sure of that.

He did his job and looked after his people. That was enough. Just because he’d managed to cheat the reaper for a while didn't mean shit. He could meet his match today as quick as the next.

Being a guardian wasn't for the faint of heart. As the leader, Collum spent less time getting his hands dirty than in the past. He was still what he was, though, and if you asked around you'd hear you didn't want to mess with him. Collum took orders from no one and very few people ever risked pissing him off. He only had one real friend. In his position, he couldn't afford to like too many people. It was easier to remain solitary. Dragons didn't make good friends.

That didn't mean he didn't like pleasure. Two thousand years of sex makes you pretty good at it, and Collum liked being good. He liked watching the ladies faces when he hit their buttons just right. He liked hearing their screams of pleasure in place of the screams of death that usually followed him. Collum loved soft skin and waves of silky hair, and tiny toes that curled when he brought them to orgasm. Sometimes, a night with a woman was the only thing that reminded him of why he chose to protect this world.

The knock on his bedroom door was quickly replaced by Glenn walking in with the paper. “It’s about time you woke up. It’s almost noon.”

“I don’t recall asking you to be my father—only my housekeeper.”

“Yes, well, when you killed him, I decided to take on the role. So, I guess you’re stuck with my paternal instincts, like it or not.”

The two men glowered at each other for a minute before Collum backed down. “You were more of a father to me than he ever was.”

“Precisely why I agreed with you that he had to die.”

Collum turned his back on the man and grabbed a gray T-shirt out of the dresser in the corner of the room. He didn’t want to think about that right now. “You have any coffee?”

“You’re going to have to talk about it at some point you know.”

“Why? She’ll still be dead, won’t she? The bastard still lived longer than he should have.” He stared hard at the old man in front of him. “Coffee?”

Glenn stiffened slightly before masking his face with an air of indifference. “Of course. It’s probably cold by now. I’ll make a new batch.”

As he walked out of the room, Collum frowned but didn’t call him back or apologize. He wasn’t a child, and didn’t need to talk about what happened. It had been twenty-five years and he’d done what needed to be done. He always did what needed to be done.

Collum was halfway down the glass stairs of his condo for that cup of black coffee when his cell rang. Addicted to knowledge, he had played a large, if silent role in the advancements of many technologies humans took for granted. His iPhone was never out of his reach.

“Yep. What?”

“Hello, is this Collum Thronus?”

“How did you get this number?” was his terse reply.

“This is Quinn Taleisin. I'm Kaylen's daughter. Her granddaughter was attacked today right after the mysterious appearance of a flame tattoo on her foot. We need your help.”

Collum sat on the stairs, the coffee and Glenn forgotten, and let his head drop. “Tell me where you are. I'm on my way.”

Read the first chapter

Immortally Embraced is the second book in Angie Fox’s M.A.S.H. trilogy. Here is the order of the books:

Immortally Yours (Aug 2012)

Immortally Embraced (Feb 27, 2013)
Immortally Ever After (Aug 27, 2013)

Book #1
I read and reviewed book #1 Immortally Yours (here) and loved it.  Angie Fox is known for her light, humorous, and smexy romance series Accidental Demon Slayer. For her M.A.S.H. trilogy she decided to take a walk on the dark side. She has crafted a wonderfully original world where unbeknownst to humans, the old gods and the new gods (of all religions) are fighting it out in limbo and the fate of Earth depends on the outcome. The gods/goddesses have pulled certain humans some with supernatural talents into limbo to help with the wounded in army like M.A.S.H. camps. Fox manages to bring her trademark humor to this story, but she doesn’t let you forget the horrors of war and what it does to people emotionally and physically.

I can’t really talk about the romance because there is a love triangle of a sorts going on. Reading the books out of order will kind of spoil this aspect of the story but not the rest. I will say that after reading the first chapter of Immortally Embraced I wanted to cry and pull Ms. Fox’s hair out. Just kidding, I don’t want to really pull her hair out… much…
book #3

The series story arc about the war in limbo and the prophesies has really captured my attention and I can’t wait to find out what is going to happen in the last book or what new and crazy characters Angie will introduce us to . In Immortally Embraced we meet a berserker named Oghul who you don’t want to upset and a couple of very jealous and petty goddesses.

This is classified as a PNR and the romance is very much the PNR formula of “I can’t give into my feelings, yes I can, no I can’t…” which normally doesn't do a lot for me, but the backdrop for the romance is clever and there is enough world building to keep this urban fantasy lover happy. Another plus for the romance is the heroine Petra isn't like normal PNR heroines. She is more of a hero archetype. It is the hero in this book that has stayed chaste for 10 years because of his love for Petra and not the other way around… hence the love triangle I was talking about.

Here is an example of Fox’s humor:

Yow. Was it getting hot up here? I was starting to sweat. A jeep was bad enough, but if he thought I was going to ride over the Great Divide on dragon back…

He dropped his pants.

“Do you mind?” I asked, glancing behind us as he shucked his boots. Yes, I’d seen it all before, but not for ten years. And besides, I was still angry with him. And I kind of hated him and here he was stripping and Jesus on a pogo stick I’d forgotten how good he looked naked.
