A young woman travels to Texas to collect an inheritance; little does she know that an encounter with a chainsaw-wielding killer is part of the reward.

So far, I had not read too many good reviews about Texas Chainsaw 3D even though it is at the top of the US Box Office, so I was looking forward to seeing what I thought of it.

Texas Chainsaw 3D was directed by John Luessenhop (Lock Down, Takers) and this story starts where the original ended. The story is based on a young girl who finds out she has an inheritance from a grandmother she never knew she had. Both her and her friends go on a road trip to collect her inheritance in Texas and so begins their night of terror.

Firstly, the 3D left a lot to be desired. I was expecting much more from it in this particular movie. I thought the plot was good. It was nice to have a continuation of a story rather than a straight out remake. Although, it would have been nice to have a twist in the plot. You pretty much knew where it was going the whole time.

When going to see this movie you cannot compare it to the original. The first Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a cult movie and was extremely shocking and violent for its time so you really need to look at this movie in its own right as the chances of it being equal or better than the original were always unrealistic.

The acting is not going to win anything at the Oscar’s, but hey, when is the acting ever great in these slasher movies? Personally I enjoyed it, I can’t see it making an appearance on my fave movies of 2013 list but it was enjoyable and passes a few hours.
