Save My Soul (Save My Soul #1)

Kendra Larkin had everything going in the right direction. Her life was seemingly perfect, and she wouldn't have changed a thing about it. Unfortunately, the course of her life was about to be forever altered. A tragic rappelling accident lands her on Dr. Adam Chamberlain's operating table.
She agrees to a deal proposed by a guardian angel to help save the soul of the man who is both her doctor and soulmate. If she is successful, she gets to keep her life. However, she later learns that it isn't just her life that's in jeopardy, but her soul as well.
Even with the help of her handsome guardian angel, Rhyan, it seems there is no happy ending in sight. Torn between her newly discovered love of Rhyan, and the undeniable attraction she has for Adam, Kendra finds herself at a crossroad. With Adam's steadfast rejection of God, and his guardian demon conspiring against her, she fears her soul may already be lost.
Will she find a way to overcome the evil her life is suddenly burdened with? Or will Adam's guardian demon win both their souls and make Kendra his own personal puppet in Hell?
Kendra Larkin finds herself on an operating table about to die when she strikes a deal to save her soul but in order to do this she has to make her sexy doctor believe in god again. Not an easy task. She also has a sexy guardian angel that makes her decision a very hard one.
Dr. Adam Chamberlain has lost his faith and now has a guardian demon looking out for him. He's not sure why Kendra is so obsessed with having him get his faith in god back, but he finds himself attracted to her so being around her isn't a hardship.
This is definitely a different kind of paranormal romance. I don't usually read such Christian Lit. of any kind because I'm not a religious person, but by the blurb this seemed like it might only have a slight sprinkling of religion throughout the story and I was kind of right. As long as the story makes sense and is keeping me entertained, I'm a happy girl and this story did that in spades.
I did find it kind of interesting that while Kendra had a guardian angel helping her, Adam had a guardian demon leading him down the wrong path because he had lost his faith. But not only does Adam have a guardian demon and a guardian angel but everyone does and it depends on what you believe as to which one has more power to influence you. That's the first time I've read something like that and although I don't believe in neither angels nor demons, it was an interesting way to bring heaven and hell into a story.
There are many twists to this story that had me guessing what would happen next but finding out that something bad happened to Adam and that's why he stopped believing in god, was very cliché. It was obvious from the beginning that's where that story line was going and it's been done, over done in my opinion.
I liked the story, the characters and even the religious aspects of it. If you like angels, demons, good and evil, heaven and hell and a sweet romance then you'll like this book.
I give this book 4 sheep!

About the Author:
Ever find it hard to talk about yourself? Yeah, I have that problem too. I have been married to my soulmate for almost 8 years, who wouldn't pick up a book unless promised that it was filled with pictures. I have a beautiful 6 year old daughter, Riley, that talks too much and has a very vivid imagination. I have no clue where she got those traits. My step-son, Hayden, is 15 and very into football and hunting. I am a writer of paranormal suspense romance. If you enjoy a great love story with a massive amount of drama about angels, demons, ghosts, vampires, witches and fairy tale creatures brought to life through a twisted mind, then you might just enjoy reading my work.
Nice review Mary, thank you. I think it is more usual in a comic book where the character gets prompted by a devil or angel on his shoulder. Still, if it really has not too much religion in it, it might be a nice story.
ReplyDeleteThe author sent Mary the next book in the series to review too :) So hopefully we will have that one up soon.
DeleteThanks! The religion is subtle which made it better for me. I also have the third book is the series and am reading that now and it's great as well.
DeleteHmm, I haven't read a paranormal inspirational romance before. It sounds like an interesting mix. Nice review, Mary.
