Sheep Book Review: Bound By Night by Larissa Ione

Bound By Night (Book 1)
The Moonbound Clan Vampires series
By: Larissa Ione
Paranormal Romance

A WOMAN OUT FOR BLOOD
Nicole Martin was only eight years old when the vampire slaves rose up in rebellion and killed her family. Now she devotes her life to finding a vaccine against vampirism, hoping to wipe out her memories—along with every bloodsucker on the planet. But there’s one thing she cannot destroy: her searing, undeniable attraction for the one man she should hate and fear the most . . .

A VAMPIRE OUT FOR REVENGE
A member of the renegade vampire MoonBound Clan, Riker is haunted by demons of his own. When he recognizes Nicole and remembers how her family enslaved his loved ones, his heart burns for vengeance. But when he kidnaps Nicole and holds her in a secret lair, his mortal enemy becomes his soul obsession, his greatest temptation, and, perhaps, his only salvation—a hot-blooded lover who could heal him with her touch . . . or bury him forever.

I like a hard-hitting, action packed, dramatic story, twists and turns, with tons of romance and sexy buildup between characters. Call me cheap or shallow, but that's what I like. Bound By Night left me wanting more on all fronts. I really dislike a predictable plot, or maybe I'm just really good at solving a mystery. Being the Master at Clue (you can feel free to challenge me at any time) but Master or not, the story as a whole was pretty straight forward on the path it was heading.

I'm a huge fan of Larissa and I LOVE her Demonica series, plus the sexy Ares who is sure to always give me a bookgasam, but this time around I was left a little unfulfilled. The pieces are all here, some darkness in the human and vamp worlds. Slavery of the vampire race and the humans who treat them like crap. I mean, the plot is killer. But on page, things just didn't add up.

Our leads this time were both good characters as individuals, yet together the passion was never on point. I've been spoiled with the steamy buildup with previous series, so I jumped into this one thinking the same thing. Alas, it didn't pan out.

There is a pretty awesome mad scientist who experiments with Kool-Aid flavors. I kid you not. A man after my own heart!

If you like PNR on the softer side maybe you'll really enjoy this one more then I did. Frankly, I hope you do! DO NOT let this story detour you from this amazing author, she's badass and I'm going to read anything and everything she writes. This one was just not my cup of Chai tea.

  1. I enjoy the softer so this might work for me :) What I am having a time wrapping my mind around is the vampires as slaves - curious to see how that plays. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us today!

    1. Yes! It was crazy to see vamps as slaves!!! There was a lot here to like and I really want to hear what you think about it after giving it a read. :) Plus, you can never go wrong with a kool-aid loving mad scientist! xo

  2. I'm glad I wasn't alone in not being blown away by this one. I love the Demonica series as well, so it hurts giving LI a lower star review :(
