Below are the reviews of Atrophy (book 1) and Quantum (book 2). Diffraction (book 3)'s review will post tomorrow.
No one on Erebus escapes alive...
Twelve years on the prison planet Erebus makes a man long for death. The worst part for Tannin Everette is that he was framed for murder. He's innocent. When the ship Imojenna lands for emergency repairs, Tannin risks everything to escape...only to find himself face to face with the captain's undeniably gorgeous sister.
Zahli Sherron isn't planning on turning Tannin in. In fact, she actually believes him. Sure, he's sexy as every kind of sin, but he's no criminal--so she hides him. But no one escapes from Erebus and lives to tell about it. With every day that passes, Zahli further risks the lives of the entire crew...even as she falls in love with a man she can never have for herself.
The Atrophy series is best enjoyed in order:
Reading Order:
#1 Atrophy
#2 Quantum
#3 Diffraction
REVIEW
Atrophy tells the story of wrongly imprisoned Tannin Everett who has spent twelve years on the prison planet Erebus when a ship in need of emergency repairs lands on the planet and Tannin decides to escape with the help of the captain’s sister Zahli Sherron. As tempting as the two find one another they have more important things to think about, like how no one escapes Erebus alive and how Zahli’s brother, the infamous war hero/crazy captain is going to take having a convict on his ship. Heck, the entire crew is nuts but they’re lovable nuts.I just LOVE the way Anastasi builds this multi-dimensional universe with such diverse characters but at the same time makes it easy for a newbie like me to navigate and get into. The pace was perfect for a sci-fi adventure, brisk but easy to follow and with plenty of action! Tannin and Zahli were a good couple though I found myself wishing that Zahli had more of a backbone, especially when it came to her brother Rian.
Speaking of Rian, can you say scene stealer? I mean he’s just one of those characters that walks onto a scene like he OWNS it. He’s a little nuts, and a lot of mystery. I was really intrigued by him. I’m hoping he gets his own story soon because he and Ella have a lot of unsolved tension going on!

"Quantum has everything. Space adventure, hot romance, and characters to cheer for!" - Susan Grant, NY Times bestselling author of the Star Series
On the run and no one to trust...not even each other.
Someone wants Captain Admiral Zander Graydon dead. Like yesterday. Almost getting killed three times in one day is pushing it, even for Zander. He's convinced the delectable Lieutenant Marshal Petros knows who's behind the attempts on his life and he'll do whatever it takes to discover what she's hiding.
Shape-shifting aliens are assassinating political and military leaders and assuming their forms, and Mae Petros is suspicious as hell of Zander Graydon. Mae is on a mission to determine if the captain admiral is still human but finds herself losing her perspective as they run for their lives. There's noway she could be falling for an alien. Right? Especially when all of humanity is on the line.
REVIEW
Quantum takes Zander Graydon and Mae Petros on as the main couple but I’ve quickly learned that Jess Anastasi doesn’t do things on a small scale. Zander and Mae’s relationship is just the tip of the iceberg in these stories because there’s always a bigger conflict, a bigger goal, and then there’s all the action scenes. You can’t have a sci-fi ANYTHING without action scenes and this book excelled at that.
Again, the couple shares page time with a bigger storyline and multiple characters and that usually bothers me but with Anastasi building such an addictive plot, it’s hard to be bothered by anything about this book. I love the recurring characters but my favorite has to be Rian. He’s just so much fun even when he’s obnoxious. I’m really hoping his story comes out soon. I want to know what makes this guy tick!

About the Author:
Jess has been making up stories ever since she can remember. Though her messy handwriting made it hard for anyone else to read them, she wasn’t deterred and now she gets to make up stories for a living. She loves loud music, a good book on a rainy day, and probably spends too much time watching too many TV shows. Jess lives in regional Victoria, Australia, with her very supportive husband, three daughters, two hyper-active border collie dogs, and one cat who thinks he’s one of the kids.
