How to make a comic book costume. No sewing involved!
Do you want to make comic book clothes?
It's actually pretty easy, just time-consuming. I have no clothes-making skills. There is no sewing involved. It is all glue and tape!
This dress is called Wednesday. If you know why you get bonus points! Next time I'll have a name tag that says

My Name is... Wednesday.
Here is the finished dress. It is two pieces, a top, and a skirt.
Basic Supplies:
1. comics books
2. bed sheet or cloth of any type
3. Spray adhesive
4. Packing tape
5. colored duct tape
6. scissors, possibly a drill
Here is my office right before I started putting things together. I spent a long time picking the comic pages and panels I wanted. Using a whole page (like covers) takes up a lot of room and makes it easier to fill the space. I also found cool things to cut out in detail or cool panels to fill in between the large pages.
I found a circle skirt pattern online. It is the simplest skirt to make. It would be really cute as a short skirt but I decided to be more modest.
Use the spray adhesive (I used Gorilla glue) to glue down the comic collage. Do a small section.
Then use the packing tape to cover what you've done. Move to the next section.
Once you finish the skirt, you want to seal all the edges with duct tape. I used black, but white would look cool too. The skirt will wrap around you. I used duct tape and packing tape to hold it closed.
When you first put it on it won't hang right because it's stiff. I had to accordion fold it and squish it to make it hang correctly.
The top was just guesswork. It was easiest to make it sleeveless. I cut the bed sheet to fit around under my arms. Then did the comic pages plus packing tape. I had a rectangular piece of "material" to work with.
You need a way to keep it on and not look like a barrel. I decided to do a corset style. It lets you make it fitted.
After a lot of measuring on myself, I got it the right size and lined all the edges with duct tape. I reinforced the edges for the corset string (shoe laces).
I used a drill to make the holes.
I wore a black cami top under it.
I needed a few accessories. I got a cheap cloth bag and gave it the same treatment as the dress. It made a cute bag to carry my things. You will need to bring your duct tape and packing tape with you in case something needs a touch-up or the skirt starts to fall off!
I bought some cheap deck shoes from Walmart. I thought about doing the packing tape method to decorate but didn't think it would hold up as well. So I bought some kids' party plates that had the POW design and cut out the design. Then stapled them to the shoes!
Last minute I thought it would be fun to have a thought bubble I carried with something funny on it. I wanted to use a dry erase material for it so I could change it up, but that didn't work out well so I went with poster board on a stick.

After wearing it one time, it needed some touch-ups before I could use it again for GalaxyCon. Make sure you overlap the duct tape because it will start to split down the seams.
After wearing it twice I might have to retire this one. It was a prototype.

Funky Werepigs and Sheep!
Gregory Hall (comedian/radio show host/author/unicorn eater, AKA The Funky Werepig) and I met online about a decade ago!
He recently moved his Funky Werepig show to Youtube and invited me to have lunch with him (via Zoom) to shoot the s*** and talk books.
If you care to watch, we spent about 20 minutes being silly. And I spent most of it nervously eating! Then the last 5 minutes of the show I do a quick three-book review!

Gregory L Hall has a long history in comedy and theatre. He is a national Telly Award winner and creator of the Baltimore Comedy Fest as well as dozens of original works for stage and video/film. His biggest claim to fame during these years is that he was once hugged by Pat Morita, Mr. Mijagi of The Karate Kid. We should pause an extra moment to realize just how awesome that is.
As a writer, his stories have appeared in numerous publications including Shroud, Alien Skin, and Necrotic Tissue as well as anthologies such as OLD SCHOOL, DEATH BE NOT PROUD and CHRISTMAS IN HELL.
His novel 'AT THE END OF CHURCH STREET' has received great critical acclaim, sales that have led him to purchase many Happy Meals, and has changed how tourists view Orlando. Stoker Award-winning author Joe McKinney said of the goth thriller "This is the kind of debut authors dream of..."
Gregory is also the host/producer of the popular live radio show The Funky Werepig. You can join fellow piggie petters every Friday night on the TMV Cafe.
His short story collection WEREPIG FEVER gives high fives and disco hip bumps to decades worth of comedy, horror, suspense and even romance work, including his underground cult favorite 'Dracula's Winkee'. The foreword was written by the great author Andersen Prunty, who may or may not have been held at gunpoint.
Gregory continues to be on his best behavior so that his wife and children do not vote to lock him out of the house. The weekly re-evaluations occur every Monday so check back often.

Puppies, Birthdays, and a Suprise Box Giveaway...Oh My!
Well, we have nothing scheduled for today so I'll share some news with you! We lost our family dog, April, over a year ago. I've always wanted a black Standard poodle. Since our youngest daughter leaves for college this fall I decided it was time to get my empty nest dog! A friend recommended the breeder he got his from. The puppies were born this weekend! We will be getting a female in 9 weeks.
Today is also my birthday! So we are going to play a game. We have the dog's name down to three possible ones.

Emerald City Comic Con pics!
At the beginning of the year Katie and I (Sharon) went to ECCC. This was my first time in Seattle. What a wonderful city! We had a great time at the con too. I could only find these pics, but I know I have a ton more... Here is a quick photo tour of some of our weekend.

There are a lot of me in my cosplay. Kate preferred to stay behind the camera so... I am Lady Killer from the Dark Horse comic. I met all the Disney princesses and they said I could be one too!
We met both Thors and RossPool.
Claire and Jamie where there! So much detail went into these cosplays.
It isn't a con without Batman. This is Batman of Seattle. He has a FB page I think. And this guy nailed Tony Stark.

There was another Lady Killer and we finally met. We both went over to the Dark Hose booth and had pictures made.
The Funko booth was very popular.

We spent an evening at the waterfront. Ate seafood. This is our rickshaw driver Ravi. We called him whenever we wanted a ride...he was so much fun.

I am missing over half of my pics...lots with Baaart...if I find them I'll share. If I can't then I will cry cause there were so many cool things.
