Book Review: Cast in Godfire (The Magecraft Series Book 5) by SM Reine

The Magecraft Series (1-5) is now complete.

The gods are rallying to take down Marion, their ally and voice in the mortal worlds. She’s gotten her memories back to disastrous results. She’s destroying the faerie courts, and the rest of the universe is next. The other deities want Seth—also known as the God of Death—to stop Marion before she breaks something that can’t be fixed.

Unfortunately, when Marion looks at Seth with those eyes and insists that she’s not doing anything wrong, he wants to believe her. Marion claims she isn’t trying to rewrite history. She’s protecting it.

Seth wants to trust Marion. It’s only the universe that’s at stake, after all. And some women are worth shattering worlds over…

The final chapter in New York Times Bestselling Author SM Reine's Mage Craft series.

Marion has her memories back and seems to be back to her cold, arrogant self. Seth wants nothing more than to help her. As the God of Death, he sees everyone’s death and he wants nothing more than to help Marion. James, one of the other gods, gives Seth a small amount of time to go back and do what he must, but the cost is high.

Marion seems to be playing so many different angles it is hard to know who the real Marion is. Seth is convinced that he knows who she is, and that she only tries to do things to help others. The rest of the world sees Marion in a much different light.

Benjamin has Nathaniel Faulkner inside his body making his life miserable. Benjamin doesn’t want to change the world. He just wants to go home. He’s been missing for months and can’t figure out how to come out on top of his horrible situation.

The final book in the Mage Craft series and I was sad to see it all come to an end. I know it isn’t the final book in this long running story but it was the one that made me the saddest to see end. Absolutely a fantastic story and end, you are not going to want to miss this one! Look out for the next series by SM Reine where Marion’s half-sister, Dana, who is a vampire hunter gets bitten.

Book Review: Cast in Balefire (The Magecraft Series Book 4) by SM Reine

Half-angel mage Marion Garin has become Queen of the Unseelie, but she can’t hold the faerie courts without convincing everyone she’s in love with her cheating, abusive husband—the beloved King ErlKonig. Rumor says Marion’s in love with the God of Death. The unseelie are revolting. And it wouldn’t be so hard to fix if the rumors weren’t true…

Marion has married King ErlKonig even though she doesn’t love him. The fae are protesting against the marriage with rumors of her cheating on him with the God of Death, even though the king is the lying, cheating husband! Marion has an opportunity to regain some of her old self but she’s not sure that she wants to give up the new, nicer person she has become.

Benjamin Wilder has to reach Marion. He devises a plan to write a memoir about the sidhe. He never asks his mom for favors but this time he is desperate to get to the middle worlds so he asks his mom to talk to her publisher to get him a book contract. He doesn’t want to tip anyone off that he’s the Alpha’s son, so he uses a pen name, Benjamin Flynn. What he doesn’t realize is that name will be a major red flag for both Konig and Marion. Benjamin is desperate to figure out what is going on in his visions.

Cast in Balefire was filled with many surprising turns that kept you wanting more. While I enjoy a complex relationship I don’t always like the complicated drama and sometimes abusive aspects that follows Marion and Konig’s relationship. Benjamin’s character with his strange visions were a nice addition to the story. I’ve been a fan of Reine’s long running series and I look forward to more books in the future.

Book Review: Cast in Faefire (The Magecraft Series Book 3) by SM Reine

Marion Garin, the Voice of God, is due to marry the Prince of the Autumn Court by the end of the week - assuming that the world's preternatural leadership doesn't have anything to say about it. They plan to strip Prince ErlKonig of his title, ensuring that Marion can't form a god-forbidden treaty with the angels.

Still injured from his final fight in Sheol, Seth Wilder is seeking a way to stay alive. If he dies, he'll lose more than his life - he'll be slave to the gods' whims for all eternity. He's ready to take drastic steps. Maybe even make a bargain with the vampires. But what the gods want, they get. And they don't appreciate being defied.

This is the third book in the Mage Craft series by SM Reine. The Magecraft books are a continuation of Reine’s long running series which is complex and one of the best series I've ever read. The reason her series is so successful is because it is comprised of many mini series. This way you get new characters to love without having to give up the old favorites since they still appear from time to time. The story lines never get dull because they continue to evolve with each new series.

Marion is going to marry Prince ErlKonig so that he can take charge of the wards in the Winter Court and carry the treaty of the Autumn Court over to the Winter Court. Deep down Marion knows she doesn't really love him but wants to save lives and do right by those in her charge. She will never have her memories back but she is a new person and hopefully that will be enough. Seth was badly injured during his fight in Sheol and has to find a way to stay alive. He doesn't want to be the third god in the triad and if he dies he won't have a choice. The chemistry between Marion and Seth is fantastic. Konig is just too smug and underhanded for my tastes. If you've never read any of Reine's books what are you waiting for! Her books are too good to miss.

Marion Garin is the teenage daughter of Metaraon, the former Voice of God. Now she's also the steward of the Winter Court, which has been in anarchy since a revolution five years earlier.

Problem: Marion still doesn't remember anything that happened before two weeks ago.

Seth Wilder has a lead on her memories. Whoever stole them and sold Marion's essence to a demon lord in Sheol. Marion wants to help steal them back, even though that means abandoning the Winter Court to war. And Seth can't seem to tell Marion no.

He wants Marion nearby. Very nearby. Possibly in his teeth. See, Seth has this little problem where he's developing a killing urge, and it seems to be centered primarily on the half-angel girl who adores him. It conflicts with everything Seth believes himself to be: a moral man, a doctor who heals instead of hurts. Yet he's obsessed with Marion. She wants her memories, and he wants her to have them as much as he wants her blood.

They'll work together to make Marion whole, come hell or high water. Even if it means war. Even if it means Seth might hurt Marion. And damned be the consequences...

This is the second book in the Mage Craft series by SM Reine. The Magecraft books are a continuation of Reine’s long running series which starts off with Lucas Flynn admitting he is Seth Wilder. Marion woke up two weeks ago with no memories and still hasn't recovered them. Even though Seth doesn’t want to help Marion, he finds that he can’t seem to tell her no.

Seth knows that he came back from Genesis different. As time goes on, the changes are getting stranger and stranger. He craves blood and doesn’t know why. Marian wants her memories back but she doesn’t. It doesn’t seem like people liked the old Marian and she’s not really sure she likes herself but is drawn to get those memories back.

Lots of surprises that will keep you wanting more! Look for Cast in Faefire this July!

Book Review: Cast in Angelfire (The Magecraft Series Book 1) by SM Reine

Cast in Angelfire (The Magecraft Series Book 1)
by SM Reine
Paperback, First Edition, 327 pages
March 13th 2016 by Red Iris Books
She's the teenage daughter of Metaraon, the Voice of God. And now it's time for her to take over the family business.

Nineteen-year-old Marion can’t remember anything before waking up at Mercy Hospital. All she knows that a lot of people want to kill her. And her would-be assassins are not human…

Faeries are real. So are vampires and angels.

They all want Marion dead.

Surrounded by enemies, Marion turns to Lucas Flynn: a mysterious doctor as good with a gun as he is with a scalpel. He fights like a demon but claims that he’s human. And he’s hellbent on protecting Marion.

Lucas claims that Marion is a half-witch, half-angel mage with terrifying powers that could crack the world. But Marion can’t remember how to cast magic any more than she can remember where she comes from.

Marion must find her identity and her power…before the forgotten sins of her past catch up with her.

This series is urban fantasy romance unfolding over multiple books with an eventual happily ever after. It features some violence, mature language, and sexual references.

This is the first book in the Mage Craft Series series by SM Reine. This series is a continuation of Reine’s long running series which picks up at the Summit. You can read this series without the others but I highly advise reading all of her books first, you won’t be disappointed.

Marion is a half-witch, half-angel mage which is extremely rare and very powerful, at least that is what Luke tells her. Marion can’t remember anything of her life except waking up in a hospital. Luke knows more than he’s letting on and seems to truly care whether she lives or dies but won’t help her recover her memories.

The chemistry between Marion and Luke is fantastic. Some, because as a reader I think I know what’s going on (even if I really don’t) and the other part because Reine weaves a great story. There were a few unanswered questions which of course are killing me and I can’t wait until the next book in the series Cast in Hellfire comes on April 3rd! I know Amazon says May 3rd but according to the newsletter I get from Sara it’s April 3!
