Dragon*Con interview: Sascha Illyvich + Giveaway

There aren’t many male authors in the romance genre and probably even less who write PNR Kinky Erotica so we were glad to get a chance to talk with Sascha Illyvich.

Sharon: As an author in a mainly female driven erotica world how would you say you stand out?

Sascha: I stand out as the bad boy of romance. I simply write the romance stories and the readers like them.

Sharon: What POV do you use, a man’s or a woman’s?

Sascha: both. Thestory itself calls for a different POV each time in terms of length and youhave to get that emotional connection in there because readers they really wantthe female POV so they can identify but they also want to empathize with themale character. And I pride myself on being able to write cross gendereffectively.

Sharon: What's been the hardest part of writing thusfar?

Sascha: sobriety. Editing. Self-editing is actually verydifficult to do as you know from being a beta reader. It’s an art form that requiresa different skill set and what it basically boils down to is having tounderstand when to cut, when to not, when to change things.

Sharon: killing your darlings?

Sascha: It isn’tpersonal for me. It is a business, I’m not doing this to be cutesy. I am doingit because it is a skill I love, it’s an industry I love and I feel good at itthan anything else. Honestly.

Sharon: Who is your fantasy crush from tv or film andwhy? AND would you write them in a story?

Sascha: Bernadette Peters from Into the Woods, the onlyactual musical I will admit once in a while to actually enjoying otherwise I amnot a fan. If Bernadette Peters and I cold share a bed for days I would be inheaven.

Sharon: You walk into a room and your theme song blasts!What is it?

Sascha: Depends on my mood…it could be Sh** List byDevil Driver, it could be End of the Line because of the lyric “I’ve been toldto dust myself off to get the f*** up and keep going forward.” or occasionallyit might be Kick Start the Fight by Combichrist.

Sharon: If you had to eat the same thing for a wholeweek, what would it be?

Sascha: steak and Cabernet Sauvignon from France

Sascha: Pancakes. Chocolate Chip pancakes.

Sharon: IHOP?

Sascha: never, I’ve worked for them sort of.

Sascha: Pepsi

Sharon: Pepsi is ruling!
