Our Dragon*Con Experience in pictures + giveaway

Dragon*Con is the largest multi-media, popular culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the universe!

This was our first trip to Dragon*Con and the first time we met in person!! We were able to stay at my aunt's house in an Atlanta suburb (Roswell) and take the train right to the convention site. This is our story in pictures...its better then us trying to do an interpretive dance!

Sharon: I had a 5 1/2 hour drive from NC. Baaart was so excited and not once did he ask if we were there yet.
Katie: I flew out from Sunnyvale, CA! Sorry, no pics. Was sleeping.

Sharon: This is our first day at Dragon*Con we are fresh and ready to roll. Katie was actually sparkling!
Katie: That's just how I roll! Bling-bling!

Sharon: Dragon*Con is the largest multi-media convention and known for the percentage of people who wear costumes. I'd say at least 80% of attendees were dressed up.

Sharon: We met Kalayna Price (bottom left, in corset!) and some red people. Baaart got eaten by a library dolphin and posed with all sorts of people. You also see Baaart having grits and bacon at the Waffle House.

Katie: I like posing with shirtless buff dudes.

Sharon: Steampunk bad guys, hotties eating Baaart, Predator loving and zombie loving.

Sharon: I went to the Big Damn Heroes! panel. This was the best picture I could get of Adam Baldwin, Sean Maher, Jewel Staite because I was at the back of the room. The big panels were hard to get into. People started lining up hours before hand. We also ran into these bad ass chicks pointing guns at Baaart. And once again...something is trying to eat Baaart.
Katie: Baaart and I posed with this Monster guy (bottom right) who was part of a campaign to get people to stop smoking!

Sharon: We managed to locate the very busy Elizabeth Kolodziej (author of the Last Witch Series) She had her steampunk on.

Sharon: Guess who Baaart found? <G> I love a man in uniform and underbrush. We got a pic of this yellow haired character from behind, but...(snicker) we can't show it on this website.
Katie: A sexy, tuff Snow White stopped to say hello!

Sharon: I did the monster mash! Crazy pig tried to eat Baaart.
Katie: Sharon loves her some monsters!

Sharon:Sad that he has nicer legs than me <G>
Katie: And me...

Sharon: This is how we looked when it was all over...
Katie: Spent, but loving every minute of it.

Sharon: My over all thoughts about Dragon*Con, a freaking hot mess. Events are spread out between 4 hotels. Atlanta in August is humid. You spend the first day just trying to find where things are. The MARTA (Atlanta train/bus system) didn't run on time and couldn't handle the nighttime loads. There were 5 major events going on in town that weekend.

The hotel, restaurant and law enforcement people were polite and helpful. Even though there were 10's of thousands there I never had to wait for a bathroom! and they were always spotless.

Will I go back? Probably not. I am glad I did and if I was in my 20's and cosplaying I would absolutely go again.

Katie: I have to agree with everything Sharon said. Disorganized compared to the other conventions I've been to. With so many people coming out it was still not a big enough venue. I hope Dragon*Con looks into convention centers at some point.

Will I go back? No. BUT I had a great time meeting every one there and spending face time with my girl, Sharon.

  18. A fire fairy. I have all the necessary attire for it. Dragon Con has been around for a while, or so I thought. I think every con has it's "downfalls", that sometimes they just have to be overlooked. I'd like to be able to at least attend once.
