AHITH 2012 Opening and Closing Nights

On Wednesday November 28, ANOTHER HOLE IN THE HEAD #9 kicks off with the newly remastered 30 year anniversary of FORBIDDEN ZONE IN COLOR with Richard Elfman in person for a Q&A after the film at the grand Terra Gallery at 511 Harrison Street, San Francisco. Following the Q&A there will be one hell of a party until 1 am with “Only A Lad”, a one man Oingo Boingo coverband and “For The Masses”, a Depeche Mode tribute band keeping the music rocking. In an absurd, cartoony world, a dufus family’s basement leads to the Sixth Dimension. Beautiful young “Frenchy” (Marie-Pascale Elfman) doesn’t heed her father’s admonishment and slides through cosmic intestines into a subterranean underworld ruled by horny midget King Fausto (Herve Villechaize) and his jealous Queen Doris (Susan Tyrrell). ”Chicken-boy” (Matthew Bright) comes to the rescue, only to have his head cut off by the soul-singing Devil himself (played by Danny Elfman, accompanied by the original Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo). Frog butlers, topless princesses, and rioting school kids sing and dance in a variety of musical numbers by Danny Elfman, Cab Calloway, Josephine Baker and others.

Closing night at ANOTHER HOLE IN THE HEAD #9 features a 2012 German documentary on death and fantasy called ZERO KILLED where ordinary people's twisted fantasies come to life on the big screen! ZERO KILLED will screen at the Terra Gallery at 511 Harrison, San Francisco on Sunday December 9th at 7pm. Since 1996, film director Michal Kosakowski has asked people with different backgrounds about their murder fantasies and offered them the chance to stage their fantasies as short films. The only condition was that they had to act in these films themselves, either as victims or perpetrators. More than a decade later, Kosakowski met these people again to ask them about their emotions during their acts of murder or victimization, and interviewed them about current social topics such as revenge, torture, war, terrorism, media, domestic violence, the death penalty, suicide etc.

International Indie Horror
ANOTHER HOLE IN THE HEAD # 9 has moved from summer to late fall so it could gather all the year's best horror from home and abroad. The programmers of ANOTHER HOLE IN THE HEAD toured the world to find the best indie horror this planet has to offer.

First stop Canada, where they found four crazy films: THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF ROSALIND LEIGH, the story of Leon Leigh, an antiques collector who inherits a house from his estranged mother, only to discover that she had been living in a shrine devoted to a mysterious cult of angels; THE KILLING GAMES (brought to AHITH by Bruce Fletcher), about a man whose wife is dying of a mysterious illness, and after his daughter witnesses a double homicide and narrowly escapes two serial killers, the man takes the law into his own hands; A LITTLE BIT ZOMBIE , a zombie comedy mixed with a marriage plot; and MON AMI, a horror movie disguised as a buddy comedy.

From the UK, comes SLICE AND DICE: THE SLASHER FILM FOREVER, a documentary which takes an irreverent look at this much-maligned, and frequently misunderstood slasher genre, with commentary from Tom Holland (CHILD’S PLAY), Tobe Hooper (THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE) and many more; PORTRAIT OF A ZOMBIE from Ireland, about a working class Irish family who get caught up in the horrific zombie invasion of Dublin! And from Germany, ZERO KILLED, a documentary about murder fantasies.

Japan has been amazing to the ANOTHER HOLE IN THE HEAD festival over the years, and this year, things got even better with DEADBALL, an hilariously offensive, politically incorrect sports splatter comedy, Yudai Yamaguchi’s follow-up to zombie baseball classic BATTLEFIELD BASEBALL. From Australia, comes THE 25th REICH, a genre mashing, tongue-in-cheek homage to 1950s sci-fi and WWII films in which five US soldiers stationed in Australia in 1943 are catapulted 50,000 years back in time to retrieve a spaceship, which the Allies need to defeat the Nazis.

Local Indie Horror
AHITH, #9 is proud to screen 4 feature films with Bay Area connections. ROAD TO HELL, written by Cynthia Curnan, who was born and raised in San Francisco, is about a soldier who has been fighting a long war and is driven mad because he no longer believes in any purpose or righteous truth behind the killing. He comes home to a surreal world looking for his first and only love from his youth, believing she will rescue him from his demons. On the road to Edge City he encounters two seductive spree killers who oppose his efforts to find his love and the redemption he desperately seeks.

North Beach resident, Charles Webb, will be in attendance for the World Premier of THE G-STRING HORROR. When a production company starts shooting a horror film in a 100 year old...and actually haunted...Sid Grauman built movie palace, the once beloved Imperial Theater, now the Market Street Cinema, turned strip club in San Francisco, the spectral inhabitants revolt and take over the movie for their own purposes with bizarre and shocking results.

San Francisco Bay Area artist, Dave O'Shea will be on hand for his debut film, DAY JOB. Shot guerrilla-style throughout the Bay Area over four grueling years on a shoestring' budget, DAY JOB is a slow-building and uniquely disturbing story, shining light on the terrifying reality that you never can be sure exactly who you've invited into your home.

Director Spain Willingham, who lived in San Francisco from 2004 to 2012, will be in attendance for FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS. People Persons, mega-movie star, is having issues with his current Godlike fame status. He calls on his old friend, Sherman Firecracker, to help him get back to his normal self and shed his huge ego. After repeated film and theatrical production failures (The Color Purple 'On ICE' , The Killing Fields: Cirque du Soleil edition), they agree to make an indie film without Hollywood influence in San Francisco. When the cameras start rolling we see that People Persons is having a hard time telling the difference between reality and the film itself. As cast members start to die, and the film’s crew begins to disappear, Sherman loses control and fears for his life and the cast and crew begin to become infected by People Person's ego and fame.
