Sheep Book Review: Heart of Obsidian by Nalini Singh

Heart of Obsidian
By: Nalini Singh
Psy-Changeling Series (Book 12)
Paranormal Romance

A dangerous, volatile rebel, hands stained bloodred.

A woman whose very existence has been erased.

A love story so dark, it may shatter the world itself.

A deadly price that must be paid.

The day of reckoning is here.

From “the alpha author of paranormal romance” (Booklist) comes the most highly anticipated novel of her career—one that blurs the line between madness and genius, between subjugation and liberation, between the living and the dead.

The Psy-Changeling series has continually grown into a form all its own. A life force sure and strong. With each new edition the series dives deeper into your soul, making it virtually impossible to stop reading the next book. I am completely and utterly in love with this writer, saga and characters. I want to be buried with these books!

Imagine a cute little puppy rolling around in the soft green grass, just happy as can be. Now switch the puppy to yourself and swap the grass for these books then you'll know how I feel. I want to roll around in the pages and never let go. (Unlike Kate Winslet in Titanic) I will walk through the fires of hell to reach the next Nalini installment, leap into a volcano or wrestle a shark. I don't care the obstacle I love them that much!

Each of the previous books leeds up to this point, tying each story into place as we get to where this was all heading. The Psy Net is fundamentally breaking down and those that want Silence are clawing their way into a battle they will do anything to win. In the midst of all this destruction we have Kaleb and Sahara, both with a mysterious past that unfolds one page at a time. It's a slow build until the cards are shown, Nalini knows how to stoke the fires of lust and drama!

If you think you know this story, maybe read it in another book before, think again. It's not a wash rinse and repeat of any other PNR out there. It's original and heart consuming. The twists and turns left me gutted yet needing another fix to stay alive, all at the same time.

In keeping with a spoiler free review, I'm not going to give anything critical away. However, I will say that the dark and delicious alpha male presented was an all you can eat buffet of goodness. If windows explode when my partner is just getting turned on, then slap me silly and call me dirty birdie all the live long day!

I will openly admit that I still have no clue what type of physic is what and how that equates to the scale they use in the series, but who cares. Some are strong some are not. The psychic equivalent of the internet they use with their minds just baffles me. I've no idea what that is and how the heck it works, but again I don't care. I love every aspect of each one of these stories. There is good PNR and then there is GREAT, Nalini is a leaping step above even that!

Romance, drama, dark twists and turns, alpha males and the badass females who stand by their sides, action, adventure, humor and tenderness, take your pick it's all here!
