Can a man who views himself as broken, and a woman unable to trust, help each other heal?

There's really a lot to like about this book. For someone who loves the dark and edgy side of PNR, this author did a great job of keeping me interested in the characters and how the whole saga would unfold.

Petr is one sexy military man, wounded and missing his leg, this male in no way is lacking. Anything. He's all kinds of sex appeal wrapped in a coffee and pie blanket. Yummy. His aching heart will reach out to you and his loyal character traits make you fall for the solider. He can take me to his prison any day!

Claudia is solely taking care of her younger brother, but it's not really clear why. Or maybe I missed that part. Which seems odd, since the mother is still alive but she does not have custody of the teen. But that said, the brother/sister dynamic was a nice touch to the overall feeling of the story. Maybe a few portions needed to be smoothed out in the dialog, but overall the interactions were believable.

I would have liked more interplay between the characters before they got hot and heavy. Petr shows up at the diner Claudia works out, but there's not much talking going on. And after about 20 times of him heading over there for pie, I was a little bit bored. Maybe some funny situations or movement between the chapters would have helped.

This story can be read as a stand alone, but it's technically book two in this alpha male series of sexy military men. It's worth a read for those who love an enjoyable romance!
