Hi! My name is Yvette Bostic. I write fantasy books. I started with historical fantasy which transitioned into post-apocalyptic fantasy within the same storyline (Light in the Darkness Series). From there I started writing urban fantasy (Call of the Elements Series) which led to Paranormal Romance (The Wolves Challenge Series).
When my children transitioned into the adult world, I was lost. The Empty Nest Syndrome is real, folks! I had so much time on my hands. It was scary and more than a little depressing. I tried out several hobbies for the first year or so, but none of them lasted more than a couple months.

One day I was mowing the lawn, day-dreaming like I normally do. And I said to myself, “Yvette, why don’t you write all this stupid shit down?”
And I did.
Once I started writing, I found that I loved it. I’ll never regret my decision. Writing is more than just telling stories for me. It’s the opportunity to get lost in another world. I get to pretend to be someone completely different from myself and experience things I’d never be able to do in real life.
Writing is my escape and I love it!
What book do you think everyone should read?
Read what you love. Honestly, there are too many books available today to waste your time on something you don’t like. Find the genre that grabs your interest and go with it! I didn’t start my reading obsession until my mid-twenties. None of the stuff I was forced to read in school interested me. Then I found the genre that did. Now there’s no stopping me from picking up another book.
What are your top 10 favorite books/authors?
OMG! I hate this question. It’s so hard to choose. I like to read all the Fantasy genres, some Scifi, Mystery, Action/Adventure, and Romance – especially RomCom.
1. I guess I really need to list the author that lured me into reading. The Amelia Peabody Series by Elizabeth Peters kept me company during my recovery from surgery a couple decades ago. It’s Women’s Fiction that leans towards Murder Mystery/Comedy.
2. After Amelia Peabody and her eccentric family stole my heart, I started reading everything. When I stumbled into Ben Hale’s World of Lumineia, I was done. Fantasy was my new favorite.
3. Phil Tucker’s Chronicles of the Black Gate will probably always be one my very favorites.
4. I discovered Lindsay Buroker when I picked up Death Before Dragons, then I binge read everything she’s ever written.
5. Annette Marie captured my heart with Three Mages and a Margarita. You guessed it – I binge read everything in her backlist.
6. It’s really hard to choose between Shannon Mayer and K.F. Breene. I loved Shannon’s Rylee Adamson Series.
7. I equally loved K.F. Breene’s Demon Days and Vampire Nights. If you’re not signed up for her newsletter, you really need to be. She’s so genuine and candid and awesome in her newsletter. I love getting them!
8. David Dalglish’s Paladin Series and The Half-Orc Series are superb Dark Epic Fantasy. I also enjoyed The Shadowdance Trilogy, but I haven’t read any of his newer books.
9. David Estes’ Fatemarked Series is amazing. The story kept me on the edge of my seat or on the edge of tears the entire time.
10. I recently discovered Kate Sheeran Swed’s Parse Galaxy Series. Yes, I know – it’s SciFi! It’s also absolutely amazing! Technically, it’s space opera, which I prefer over hard science fiction. I’m not a science guru, so hard science is wasted on me.

About the author:
Website
I've been an avid reader for a few decades, enjoying many genre of books, but I find myself always turning back to fantasy novels. Don't get me wrong, I love a great murder mystery, but nothing draws one away from the chaos of real life like a good story about elves, trolls and magic.
While my first series doesn't have any elves, trolls or fairies, the second series does.
Light in the Darkness Series leads into The Sentinel and the Watcher Series. It follows the life of Darian; a young man drawn out of the Napoleonic Wars and into an epic battle against demon overlords and their fanatical cultists.
Call of the Elements is a current day urban fantasy about a young woman who spends her entire life rejected by everyone, until a vampire finds her. Her entire world is turned upside-down when she's forced to accept the supernatural world is real, and she's now part of it. A very important part.
What's coming next? More for AJ and the Call of the Elements. I also have two new series in the works - The Wolves' Challenge and the The Witches' Triad. Both new series are a spin off Call of the Elements but can be read separately.
I love to hear from my readers and can be reached on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or my website - YvetteBostic.com
