Hex Hall... Wow
Hold on cuz I'm about to pop the YA cherry of this blog! :)
When you think young adult (YA) books, you think things like Sarah Dessen, Harry Potter or Twilight. While those books are entertaining, they can be found lacking for those of us who enjoy more 'mature' storylines. This is not the case with this story. While this book may be in a high school setting, it is anything but juvenile.
This book captivated me from the beginning and kept me spellbound (hehe) throughout the entire thing. The setting is a reformatory school for Prodigium, or as we know them faeries, witches, shifters and the likes. When 16 year old Sophie Mercer is sent there for a love spell gone wrong she is confronted with bad boy/school hottie Archer Cross, his evil girlfriend, Elodie, and her cliche of b****es, and a roommate who happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time... alot. Ah, makes me miss high school. lol.
This book is full of jealousy, suspicion, heartache, betrayal, humor and twists that you wouldn't expect. I couldn't put this book down! I'm chomping at the bit for the next installment to come out! I thought this book was written brilliantly. The witty bantering between Archer and Sophie that had me laughing out loud, the catfights between Elodie and Sophie , and the murder mystery that is haunting the school make for a magical wild ride. Even after I finished the book I wanted to start it all over again just so I could experience the characters again. If I knew how to put up the sheep rater this baby would get all 5! Loved it from start to finish!
