Sucker Punch, dark and wonderful

Sucker Punch directed by Zack Snyder stars Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, and Scott Glenn. Zack Snyder, director of 300 and Watchmen, has once again hit another movie out of the park. It was so well executed I was blown away; from beginning to end this movie will grab a hold of you and drag you through the darkness that is Sucker Punch!

Storyline:
A young girl (Baby Doll) is locked away in a mental asylum by her wicked stepfather where she will undergo a lobotomy in 5 days. Faced with unimaginable odds, Baby Doll retreats to the fantastical world of her imagination where she and four other female inmates at the asylum plot to escape the facility. The lines between reality and fantasy blur as Baby Doll and her companions battle various creatures and enemies to retrieve the 5 items they need that will allow them to break free from their captors before it's too late...

Action-packed hard-hitting film with a major video game feel, if you love action and drama all mixed into one then you will devour this film. CGI so delicious I could have scooped it up and shoveled it down my throat with a big spoon! Ninjas, steam-clock undead killers, dragons, and robots oh my! A few new twists on the enemies of old. If the men folk need more than all that they wont be disappointed with the sexy costumes in this one. lol

Storyline weaves the whole piece together to create an experience that will leave you raw with emotion. I did NOT expect the very dark nature of the film but I will say it was refreshingly good., adding to the overall experience. But please let's all try and stay lobotomy free, mkay? :)

Most of these actors have been hit or miss for me in previous films, Vanessa H is at the top of my "meh" list. BUT she killed it in her role as Blondie, I was so pleasantly surprised with her I might just watch more movies in the future that she stars in. Girl power to the 10th degree! But hats off to the whole cast for pulling this over the top action movie off *stands up and claps* it's a must see for anyone who loves fantasy action movies.

Throw in a slammin soundtrack which includes some covers of classic rock hits AND new songs from Bjork and you have yourself one heck of a film! Go see this one and thank me later. :)
