Vampire Mine, kilts own my heart :)

Vampire Mine by author Kerrelyn Sparks is the 10th book in her "Love at Stake" series. My Scottish hunk cakes are back! We are fans of Kerrelyn's at I Smell Sheep, and when the release date finally arrived I ran out to my local book store about 6pm and finished it by Midnight! I LOVED it; I've waited a long time to finally get Connor's story and the wait was worth it. :)

Storyline:

After 499 years of existence, Connor Buchanan has arrived at an inescapable conclusion: he is a cold-hearted SOB. He’s been watching his friends—those poor romantic fools—plummet off the cliff into love like a dazed herd of sheep. But not Connor, he knows that love leads to nothing by heartache.

Marielle is an angel cast down from heaven for disobedience. Trapped in mortal form, she finds a protector in Connor, a Scottish vampire haunted by a dark past. Marielle hopes to heal his broken heart and earn her way back home, but suddenly she has these…feelings. This strange yet pleasant physical yearning—for a vampire! Is this the work of a demon luring her into hell, or has this angel found heavenly bliss?

I found myself laughing out loud numerous times throughout this story, Marielle has no experience whatsoever in a mortal body. All her "woman" parts, functions and sensations are new and strange. The Angel has an honest and pure heart but shares everything that is happening to her with those around her. It makes for some truly funny situations, and to see grumpy butt Connor bust up laughing at her was so very refreshing. Marielle helps show a new side to Connor, and their dynamic was superb! :)

The good Vamps and Were's team up to fight the ongoing battle against Casimir and his army of demented followers (The Malcontents). Both sides take some major hits, one more then the other. As the battle wages on in Vampire Mine hard decisions must be made that had me biting my nails to see what would happen next.

Favorite characters from books past come back in; Kerrelyn does a very good job at making sure we get updates from those in her previous stories. Normally stoic and compassionate fellow Vamp Roman takes on a darker personality in this book. It was an interesting new side to see from his character. Could this be the new Roman? Although my hunky love cake Dougal was missing for most of the book, my fingers are crossed for his story to be told soon. I do love the shy ones ;)

Another great book from Kerrelyn that is sure to make you fall over laughing and fill your heart with the warm fuzzies. A MUST read that you will not regret.

Getting 4 and 1/2 kilt wearing Sheep.
