In Rogue Wolf, Enforcer Margo Montgomery met Italian Alpha Salvatore Esposito. The man drove her crazy, but he also ignited a desire for something more within her she hadn’t possessed in years. In addition to Salvatore, we met some of his Centurions including one Giovanni Conti—it’s no surprise that some characters demand their own story and Giovanni was definitely one who stood up to be noticed and Single, Wicked Wolf is that tale.
What happened after? You know on the long flight home, when Margo and Murphy settled into the private plane’s cabin. At one point in Single Wicked Wolf, Giovanni recalled how touchy Americans can be. He and his Alpha are both mated to Americans, ever wonder what it might be like if these two women had to compare?
Margo: Seriously? You think just because we’re women, you can lump us into the same category?
Murphy: Not sure the author intended to lump us together, but we do have a lot in common.
Margo: Really?
Murphy: You don’t have to sound defensive. We’re both from Willow Bend.
Margo: I left when I was fourteen and the only times I returned were when I had to. So you can amend that to we were both born there.
Murphy: Fair enough. We were both born there. We’re both wolves.
Margo: And again, I think you’re narrowing your definition. I was born a wolf. You were turned.
Murphy: Yet, we’re still both wolves…and a turned wolf is still a wolf.
Margo: You were turned by Toman, the same douche bag who was the reason I had to leave. Still not seeing a lot in common, maybe contrast.
Murphy: You spent years away from your pack, and on your own. I spent two years…
Margo: Going to stop you right there sweetheart. I was an Enforcer and I chose to be a Lone Wolf. You took a job that took you away from your pack, but at no point were you not a member of it. Why do you think Mason had his panties in a twist over Giovanni wanting you?
Murphy: Do you try to be difficult on purpose or does it come naturally to you?
Silence rocked through the plane.
:Margo laughed: It absolutely comes naturally to me. Are you a kiss ass by nature or is that your diplomatic training?
:Murphy considers the charge: You know it’s probably both. I did grow up human in a wolf pack so dominance games weren’t my forte and I changed when I was eighteen and still impressionable. College had to be delayed, then I spent as much time away from the pack as with it in the years in between. So I guess I can handle whatever you want to throw at me.
Margo: Good. You’ll need it. Italian wolves are every bit as stubborn as ours and very convinced they know what is best.
Salvatore: I heard that.
Margo: Then stop eavesdropping. I’m not going to eat her.
Giovanni’s faint growl drifted back from the cockpit. Salvatore murmured something and the sound cut off.
:Murphy pondered her companion: You like to rile people up.
:Margo nodded once: You like to soothe them, play peacemaker.
Murphy: Not entirely, I try to understand the situation and negotiate an equitable solution.
:Margo grins, an almost feral if amused smile: So kiss ass.
:Not missing a beat, Murphy shrugged: Better than a troublemaker.
Giovanni: Ladies, perhaps we should change the subject.
Murphy: Why? I’m having fun.
Margo: I think I’m going to like you kid.
:Murphy raises her drink, then grins wider: Jury is still out on you.
The laughter rippled through the private plane’s cabin and the wolves accompanying them relaxed.
Not saying it happened this way, but you never know. It could.

by Heather Long
This single, wicked wolf is the perfect boyfriend, but just who is she fooling?
Murphy DeWitt enjoyed two years working as an assistant to a diplomatic attaché touring American consulates in Europe. It was a dream come true, and a hell of a learning experience. A master of languages, she knows how to get her point across. Romance, however, proves to be a tongue twister. Now en route to Willow Bend for a friend’s wedding—without the make-believe boyfriend she created for her family—she debates how to confess her deception. Luckily, her flight includes a fantastically hot wolf that leaves her breathless and contemplating all kinds of naughty things.
Giovanni Conti thrives on protecting others, as a Centurion for the Seven Hills pack in Italy, it’s his pleasure to serve his Alpha wherever he is needed. Dispatched ahead in preparation for the Alpha pair’s trip to Willow Bend for a wedding, he has no problem entertaining the sexy wolf he encounters in the airport. The last thing the playboy wolf expected, however, was to find Murphy the most captivating chase of his life…

National bestselling author, Heather Long, likes long walks in the park, science fiction, superheroes, Marines, and men who aren’t douche bags. Her books are filled with heroes and heroines tangled in romance as hot as Texas summertime. From paranormal historical westerns to contemporary military romance, Heather might switch genres, but one thing is true in all of her stories—her characters drive the books. When she’s not wrangling her menagerie of animals, she devotes her time to family and friends she considers family. She believes if you like your heroes so real you could lick the grit off their chest, and your heroines so likable, you’re sure you’ve been friends with women just like them, you’ll enjoy her worlds as much as she does.
