Movie Review: Black Sheep

Black Sheep (2006)
Director: Jonathan King
Writer: Jonathan King
Stars: Oliver Driver, Nathan Meister and Tammy Davis
87 minutes, not rated

An experiment in genetic engineering turns harmless sheep into blood-thirsty killers that terrorize a sprawling New Zealand farm.

Heehee, I am so glad I rented this movie. If you love horror/comedy monster movies then you will love Black Sheep. How can you not like a movie where a genetically engineered lamb fetus in a jar gets out and turns people into Weresheep and other sheep into man-eaters? Considering the subject matter there was a good plot, respectable acting, and decent special effects considering there was no CGI used.

The movie starts out with a young Angus Oldfield scaring his little brother Henry with the corpse of Henry’s pet sheep and the housekeeper telling the boys their father had died in an accident. Fast forward 15 years and Henry, who now has a sheep phobia, is coming home to sell his share of the farm to Angus. What he doesn’t know is Angus has a lab, complete with mad scientists, that is conducting genetic experiments to make the perfect sheep. Enter two animal activists, Grant and Experience, who break into the lab to get proof of the experiments. Grant escapes with a lamb fetus in a jar, but Grant drops it and the lamb crawls onto Grant and bites him, the fetus then heads off to bite some sheep because he can. Grant turns into a weresheep and the flock starts eating people. Meanwhile Henry hooks up with Experience and the farm manager Tucker to try and contain the mess. They find out Angus has an unhealthy relationship with sheep and eventually find a cure for everyone and every sheep that got infected. There is even a little romance mixed.

The movie is a fast paced giggle fest with a happy ending and defiantly worth the rental price.
