By the time Alex gets herself together, the body has disappeared and the other residents of the morgue start talking her ear off.
After working up the courage to report the missing body, Alex is transferred to the mysterious Precinct 13 where she discovers that her new co-workers—including a cute technomage named Jack—are paranormals just like her. Boston’s demons have been disappearing, and Vicky’s clients are canceling left and right. While fewer demons might seem like a good thing, Vicky suspects foul play. A missing Celtic cauldron from Harvard’s Peabody museum leads her to an unwelcome conclusion: Pryce, her demi-demon cousin and bitter enemy, is trying to regain his full powers.
But Pryce isn’t alone. He’s conjured another, darker villain from Vicky’s past. To stop them from destroying everything she loves, she’ll have to face her own worst fear—in the realm of the dead itself.
A Wolf at the Door: A Jesse James Dawson Novel #3
by K.A. Stewart
buy: amazon-book depository
Jesse James Dawson was once an ordinary man until he discovered that demons were real, and fighting them meant putting his own soul on the line. His new case is a beauty: Gretchen Keene, a Hollywood starlet who's become an unwitting catalyst in an all-out demon war. It's not her soul Jesse needs to protect, but the two-hundred-and-seventy-six others she's carting around--all the souls sold to spend just one night with the blonde bombshell. That's a lot of baggage, although it might explain her meteoric rise to fame. And it's all up for grabs by the demon world. All Jesse has to do is keep her safe until New Years. Sounds easy. But darkness is casting a nasty shadow in the California sun--a new unseen enemy is closing in and leaving Jesse to wonder, how do you fight something you can't see coming?
this one hurts my heart to let go...it looks so good!

ReplyDeleteMoving on. UF will take your imagination so far.. Far.. Far.. Away.. It's a good place to forget about daily problen :D
Urban Fantasy is so very intriguing and pulls you right into the story. I imagination is the key.

I love to read UF books, it's so easy to relate to the characters as thet are strong and vulnerable as well. The world is always very interesting to discover. I always love to have creatures in a book and UF books have everything I want.
ReplyDeleteUF has been a guilty pleasure of mine for the past few years. I love the kick ass heroines, the alpha men, the paranormal elements, and the dark and gritty settings.
ReplyDeleteI have loved UF/PNR since before it was a genre. Mercedes Lackey and her Diana Tregarde books, Anita Blake, Jim Butcher and those time travel romances that had to with curses at the full moon or broody guys who didn't like to come out at night (and they didn't SPARKLE either!!!) I love going to other places in my head no matter that it's to another planet, another city or parallel dimension where mythical beings walk along side us. :)
ReplyDeleteI love to read UF. It's enough like real life to relate to but then the crazies are slipped in and suddenly it's a whole other world. It's fun!
ReplyDeleteOn a side note...it is really hard to enter via mobile. I had to hop onto the computer to do it. Oh well. Great giveaway anyway.
I love how urban fantasy is set in a world not so different from out own but with much more interesting characters (shifters etc.) :D

I adore urban fantasy for its alternate reality. Love the "what ifs"! Thanks for the giveaway.

I am an urban fantasy geek! :)
ReplyDeleteCherry Mischievous
I like the characters and settings.
ReplyDeleteMmmm. When it's done right the world building is what gets me with Urban Fantasy.
ReplyDeleteAll of these look so good! Thanks for the giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteI like to read UF because I enjoy seeing the different takes authors have on how various events would effect our world as we know it. UF tends to be dark and I really enjoy the darker side of things.

*I would write a review on GR.
What's not to love about it? The herione, the men, the setting!
ReplyDeleteAll the books look good. I love UF adventures!
ReplyDeleteawesome giveaway! Thank you so much! All but 2 are series additions that I've been counting down for ;)
ReplyDeleteI love Urban fantasy b/c it incorporates magic/supernatural with the real world. Makes it so much easier to fall into a story when some of it is relateable and I can picture in my mind. I also love how authors create parallel worlds were things are sooo much different b/c of magic.
So many of us live in urban settings now. some of the stories seem to take place in environments that are not so foreign and unbelievable.
ReplyDeletecarlscott(at)prodigy(dot)net(dot)mx
It takes me away from the real world for a bit so that I can relax and think of other things rather than what is going on in my world. It lets my imagination run wild and takes me away from it all. Its fun.
ReplyDeleteI love urban fantasy because I love reading about supernatural beings that shouldn't exist living among our reality. Thank you for the awesome giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteI'm actually new to UF. This would be my first :-)
ReplyDeleteI love reading about paranormal beings and it is a great escape! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI love reading....Thank you for the giveaway..
ReplyDeleteI love the great worlds the authors create and of course all the awesome characters!!
ReplyDeleteUrban fantasy always has amazing world building, kick ass characters, and no limits to the stories that can be imagined.
ReplyDeleteI love that the authors create a whole world in and UF book. I love to see so many different ideas on how the world could be.
ReplyDeleteI love urban fantasy because it makes supernatural creates seem real.
ReplyDeleteI've loved urban fantasy since before it was a genre. I'm still looking for the way through the fairy circle, the correct wardrobe, that special book in the library that'll teach you REAL magic.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm absolutely dying for that Nancy Holzner! I love that series.
Not entering the contest. Just wanted to say that I really have enjoyed the Remy Chandler series.
ReplyDeleteGah! It's so hard for me to explain! But I read almost nothing but uf. I guess it's something about the creative world-building and great paranormal races (I dig the fae.)
ReplyDeleteI love UF because it has numerous elements, real world elements with a mystical or paranormal factor, great character building and the way that so many of them turn into fantastic series that I just crave the next one. I'm excited about Racel Caine's, Two Weeks Notice. the first book, Working Stiff was a new twist on UF.
ReplyDeleteBecause it's the real world but far more fun! There's interesting and magical characters in UF. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy escaping the real world for a little fantasy!
ReplyDeleteIt's dark, gritty and usually has a kick a** heroine and some kind of action going on!
ReplyDeleteAwesome giveaway, but I will respectfully pass on entering. As someone that has read very little UF, and whose OCD-like quirks won't allow starting a series anywhere but book one, I want to see a real fan of the genre and these authors win! Great giveaway though, and thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love the escape from this reality and finding new authors!! Great giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteSharon UF has been my favorite genre for more years than most people have been reading because it is the best of both worlds mixing reality and fantasy in a way that is believable and very enjoyable as we can use our imagination to "fill in the blanks" so to speak when something blurs the line in a story between being over the top or not.
ReplyDeleteAdd all the cool paranormal beings you meet and I am one happy reader!
Great books, really need 2 Weeks Notice as out of the 4 series up there it is one I have not ordered the next book to release yet.
Thanks for the choices, those are some good reads and if you change your mind am a huge fan of "Harper Blaine" too LOL.
i like UF because it's out of my imagination and can make me think if one day all those creatures will trutly life in real world :)
ReplyDeleteI'm more like PNR gals but do love Urban Fantasy. A kick ass heroine that doesn't wait to be saved like a damsel in distress is one of many reason I enjoy reading UF
ReplyDeleteLOVE PNR, and UF more and more...If the world building is good, I'm a sucker for UF.
ReplyDeleteI love Urban Fantasy since I'm such a sucker for great world building, and mystical creatures. It inevitably transports me to a new worlds, and makes me eager to explore. And most of all, it's just fun, fun, fun.
ReplyDeleteLilian @ A Novel Toybox
Why do I love it? Because it's crazy good reading of course
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteGreat choices! Gunmetal Magic is already pre-ordered, but the rest are new series to me. I love urban fantasy for the kick ass chicks characters, the awesome world building, and the adventures and action. All the different takes on paranormal creatures, which gives me always something new and entertaining to read.
ReplyDeleteOMG! I started reading and just about hyperventilated over this UF awesomeness. What a treat of a giveaway opportunity. I love UF for the action, the otherness of the ride (vampires, werewolves, and demons . . . oh my!), as well as for the protagonists; they are generally very strong willed (at least my favorites are) and have the ability to get in there and get the job done. Often in the midst of all the action, horror, and sadness there is a sense of humor the will peek through as well and for me that is the ultimate. I like to like the characters I am reading about and to always be looking forward to the next kick ### adventure. Thank you for making me smile :)
ReplyDeleteI love urban fantasy because the world had a lot of similiraties with ours so we can really imagine what we could be doing ^^
ReplyDeletethank you for this giveaway ( international?)
I like Urban Fantasy because the stories can go in so many different directions.
ReplyDeleteI like it because the stories tend to be a bit grittier.
ReplyDeleteLove the sound of all these. I really love the Deadtown series so to see the next one up is heaven to me. All the others I haven't heard of but also look promising.
ReplyDeleteOh and why I like Urban Fantasy is they tend to be darker, gritter with kick ass characters that can solve their own problems (of course with a little help from their friends) :-)
ReplyDeleteI Lurve UF because it usually portrays women with so much more of the strength and badassery that I wish I had more of in my own life ~ so I tend to live vicariously through most of the "darker, grittier" kick-ass heroines who usually end up with a bad boy mate and some truly loyal and awesome friends.
ReplyDeleteRight off the bat I see at least 3 titles I have to have. I've been reading fantasy books since I was a pre-teen. Add in the Urban part along with the amazing assortment of characters each author builds their worlds with and you have a winning combination that I just can't pass up.
ReplyDeleteI love Urban Fantasy because of the imaginative worlds and fantastic characters that are so different from the real world.
ReplyDeleteAwesome giveaway! :D
ReplyDeleteI believe urban fantasy is about escapism - I love the many, many differences that each author comes up with :) Thanks for the giveaway
ReplyDeleteBecause the characters are strong, and it's like an alternative reality!! =)
ReplyDeletebecause of the characters and alternate settings and realities.
ReplyDeleteI love Urban Fantasy because it gets me away from reality like no other genre! There is absolutely no way anything that happens in UF can happen in real life and it is a great escape!
ReplyDeleteGreat characters and story lines and the worlds are similar enough to really let you imagination flow.
ReplyDeleteit lets you have an escape from every day to day life
ReplyDeleteOh Man, You got some good ones. I love Urban Fantasy because it builds the foundation of a couples relationship over time. They are great for building sexual tension. That couple goes through struggles and speed bumps, so when they really click, it is that much more satisfying.
ReplyDeleteI love Urban Fantasy because it bleeds reality in with the fun side of the paranormal!
