Alpha Male Diner: lion-shifter and werewolf by Sadie Hart

Kanon Reyes (lion-shifter)
recipe by: Sadie Hart
Hounded, Shifter Town Enforcement #1

Ingredients:
Six feet of solid muscle and raw strength
Dark amber eyes
Unshakeable loyalty to those he cares about

Add:
A heap of testosterone
A dash of humor
A wicked sexy smile

Mix in a sexy partner that loves to share as much as Kanon does, a madman framing them for murder, and a gorgeous red head set on keeping them all out of hot water.

Simmer over high heat and wait for the sparks to fly.

Taste Test:

Kanon turned, dropping one arm from Tegan’s back, and he reached for her. “Aibileen’s on duty ‘til three. You can dance a few rounds before then.”

His grin turned wicked then. All pure, sweet, sensual sin, and Lennox seriously considered running. Dodging right back out to her car and leaving them both stranded here.

Yeah. Some big, bad Enforcement Hound she was.

Kanon’s hand found her waist, curving gently over her hip, and Lennox lifted an eyebrow. Daring, without moving. She was not going to run. She was a ridgeback and one of the top Enforcement Hounds in the country. Lennox Donnelly didn’t run.

Tegan’s hand slipped around her other hip.

Lennox swallowed. Besides, backing up now would definitely be showing fear.

They eased closer, and her back locked up as a shiver skated down her spine. They were both built like tanks. Muscled, gorgeous tanks.

Kanon bumped her shoulder with his. “You should dance with us.”

“Yeah,” Tegan whispered.

She sucked in a hard breath, “I don’t think that’d be smart.”

“Why?” Tegan nudged her hip with his, his arm sliding around her waist. “Kanon’s off the hook, innocent. We’re here with a good chunk of the night yet. Why waste it?”

“Wanna bet if we were Hounds she’d already be on the dance floor?” Kanon’s eyes locked with hers, accusing, even as the words came off light. But he was right. If she’d been off duty and one of the Hounds had asked her to dance, well, why the hell not?

“Discriminating,” Tegan murmured, his lips curved into a soft smile as he laid a kiss against the edge of her jaw. She jumped at the touch, but there was nowhere to go.

“No. You’re just in my space.” Her voice shook a little as she said it.

“Then back up.” Another tantalizing hint of a kiss.

“Unless you like us in your space.” Kanon’s gaze dropped to her lips just as Tegan kissed the curve of her neck.

Bay Hollister (werewolf)
recipe by Sadie Hart
Cold Mercy, Northern Wolves #1.

Ingredients:
1 well-built woodworker
A beastly nature hiding just under the surface
A longing to do what's right
A long, cold winter

Stir in ice blue eyes that haunt his dreams, a love for animals, a desire to protect what's his, and the determination to never back down when someone is relying on him.

Freeze with a cold blast of winter magic and an evil Fae queen.

Set before a blazing fire and serve at the first signs of thaw.

Taste Test:

A branch snapped behind her and the returning flash of fear left her bone cold. She could hear the harsh whuff of animal breathing behind her, the undercurrent of a nasty growl. Smuggler whined and thrashed against the leash in her hand, hard enough that she stumbled and he yanked free. Eden didn’t even hesitate. She lunged for her sled, her hand automatically reaching for the canister of bear spray she always packed.

A mammoth paw caught her stomach and knocked her sideways, sending her spinning across the snow. Fabric shredded easily under the violent slash of claws. Eden staggered, the canister still gripped in her hand as she struggled to keep her feet solidly underneath her. Pain lanced up her side where the animal had struck her.

Had to be a bear. She lifted her hand, fully intending to take aim, and came face-to-face with the biggest wolf she’d ever seen. Her heart lodged in her throat, and she froze, suddenly unable to breathe. He was pure white, like fresh fallen snow in an untouched meadow. There wasn’t a spot of color on him. Even his eyes looked like nothing more than gaping black holes. Soulless. Evil eyes, some niggling, frenzied part of her brain insisted. Demon eyes.

Hysteria climbed up her throat, threatening to break out in giggles, and Eden lifted the canister. The wolf lunged, faster than any bear. Hell, faster than any wolf, dog, or animal she’d ever seen. One second he’d been standing by her sled, the next, the wolf had her pinned against the ground, flat on her back, with his long white muzzle inches above her face. Pearly lips pulled back to reveal equally white teeth.

I’m going to die.

Lion-shifters Kanon Reyes and Tegan Sharpe aren’t sure what Kanon’s done to earn himself a frame-up for murder, but they’re determined to keep him from a silver bullet and a shallow grave. To do that, though, they’ll have to rely on the sexy Hound sent to arrest him.

As a Hound for Shifter Town Enforcement, Lennox Donnelly is one of the best. But when one of her arrest warrants turns out to be for an innocent man, she’s determined to get to the truth. What she finds are dead witnesses and an untraceable magick–with a killer far more powerful than her. Now, to survive, Lennox will have to learn to rely on more than just herself if she’s to make it back to the men she’s come to love.

Book 3, Big Cats Don’t Purr will be available September/October 2013!

Bay Hollister dreams he’s a monster. A bloodthirsty wolf, to be exact, but when the animal in his nightmares attacks a woman, the last thing he expects is for her to be real.

Eden Marks has a broken dog sled and a torn jacket–but she’s still not sure what attacked her the other morning. After all, wolves the size of bears don’t exist. But when she meets Bay, they both discover a side of Mercy Pass they never knew existed: Huge, white werewolves, frost-touched trolls, and the queen
of the winter Fae, whose dark magic is waking and slowly growing stronger.

And when the queen calls her wolves to her each night, Bay struggles not to succumb. But as he fights to make the beast inside of him his own, it’s Eden who calls to the man in him and makes him feel human. However, against a foe that will show no mercy, will their newly-forged love be enough? Or will the last shreds of Bay’s humanity fade away until he becomes just another beast of the night…

Northern Wolves #2, Frozen Mercy, will be available late winter.

  2. I'm afraid for me there's a tie between the unshakeable loyalty and the 6 feet of solid muscle and raw strength. I think I could do some cooking just with those two ingredients. Thanks for the wonderful post. michelle_willms@yahoo.com
