Interview: Robin Covington (Sex and the Single Vamp) Book Tour + giveaway

Robin and I are like twinsies...only different. She is a comic book nerd and writes about sexy vampires! Join us as we talk about Dean, Strikeback and X-Men, oh and vampires!
Sharon: Hello Robin! Welcome to the flock…drink this *shoves cup of Kool-Aid in Robin’s face* and sign this *shoves scroll of parchment paper in Robin’s face*

Robin: Thanks! *looks around* When do I get the secret handshake?

Sharon: At the end…if you survive…mwahaha…ha..ha. Moving on!

Sharon: You just released Sex and the Single Vampire. Can you tell our readers a little about it?
Robin: Oh man. This book is sexy and fun and I loved writing it. At its heart, VAMP is about two people who have loved each other for almost three hundred years and what happens when they finally decide to see if they can be together. But – of course – I threw in an underground criminal group that wants to kill the heroine, just to keep it interesting *grin*

Sharon: Three hundred years of pent up passion? I bet the death threat isn’t the only thing you added to make it interesting *hubba hubba*
RobinYou know me Sharon – I never miss the opportunity to complicate things with sex . . .

Sharon: You have many contemporary romances. What made you want to throw vampires into the mix?
RobinThis story idea had sat on my hard drive forever just waiting for the right time. I love paranormal romance and I was worried that I couldn't do it justice. But when my publisher put out a call for paranormal romances, I thought it was the best time for it. My editor was excited to work on it with me and it ended up being a great experience.
And – there is something so fun about being able to create my own world.

Katie: Did you bring Deacon with you? Does he have any friends? Names and numbers?

RobinDeacon did come with me but I can't seem to get him off the phone with Cici. Ahhh...love. But, Antonio is available and I could definitely hook you up.
Sharon: Wait! What about me!?
RobinUmm…I think you two are going to have to fight it out. Arm wrestling? Paintball battles? Candy Crush showdown? Antonio would say that he can handle more than one at a time…he’s done it before.
Lock and loaded baby! Let's do this.

Sharon: Do you have plans to write more stories featuring other supernatural creatures? Give us a hint at what might be coming next?
RobinI would love to write Antonio’s story. He’s Italian, 4oo years old and invented the term “depraved and debauched”. Need I say more?
Sharon: why yes, you do! You had me at depraved, but we’ll wait for the book ;)
RobinAhhh…Antonio. So complicated. He embraces all of the dark parts of being a vampire and lives to excess and enjoys booze, parties, men and women as the whim hits him. Love that guy.
Sharon: *sigh* Antonio...

Sharon: What is your favorite holiday to decorate for and on a scale of “see my pretty door” to “OMG! Did a Hallmark store explode in your house?”where do you fall?
RobinChristmas! I have compromised with the hubby and I don't put anything up until the day after Thanksgiving but once the turkey is done is on like donkey kong! I have 5 trees and twinkle lights on every railing and flat surface with garland. Every room gets the treatment. It takes me almost two days to get it all up.
Sharon: Now that is how it is done! Please tell me you use color lights?
RobinOnly on the trees in the kids areas. Otherwise, I’m a white light kind of girl.

Sharon: If you could own any piece of art in the world what would it be?
RobinI’m a little old-fashioned with my answer. I grew up with a coffee table sized book of Norman Rockwell paintings and I fell in love with his work – he conveys the hope of the post WWII America so well. I always loved the one called, “The Girl With the Black Eye” because I was that kid – disheveled and clearly post fight and sitting on the bench outside the Principals Office. It always makes me smile no matter what mood I am in. I have a reproduction in my office.
Sharon: I think every public school in NC has that in their office <G>

Sharon: If you won a chance to go on tour with any band which would it be?

RobinDo I have to pick one? I’m such a music junkie! Okay, Sugarland. They would be so much fun.

Sharon: I read you like to geek out on comics…so do we! What kind do you love to read? And are you a villain lover or hero lover?
RobinI’m old school with my comics – Justice League all the way! I adore the Superman canon but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the Superman and Wonder Woman love story. And I am a HUGE X-men fan.
I love a hero. Especially their hard and difficult backstories.

Sharon: What is the nerdiest thing you own?
RobinI have a Dean Winchester figurine that sits on my desk. Supernatural rocks!
Sharon: O_O You just earned 10 cool points for that one! PUDDING!
RobinI lurve Dean soooo much! The episode where they go to the Supernatural fan convention . . . I laugh so hard at his expression.

Sharon: What is the snow situation up in Maryland? Have you had enough yet?
RobinSeriously? I’m cold. All. The. Time. I warm up in August when it is 100 degrees and I am dying here. Can it be over? Please?
Sharon: What do you think would happen if all the Troll Dolls came to life?
RobinI’d never complain about a bad hair day ever again.
Sharon: BAM! 10 more coolness points for that answer!
how do you make Troll Dolls even creeper?

Rapid Fire, buckle up buttercup!

Sharon: Blood and guts or flowers and rainbow
RobinBlood and guts (Strikeback anyone?)
Sharon: *Sharon has stars in her eyes* you are so cool…
RobinOMG – I love that show.

Sharon: Bucky and Satchel or Opus and Bill the Cat
RobinBucky and Satchel.
Sharon: Me too!
Sharon: Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert?
RobinStephen Colbert
Sharon: Me too!

Sharon: Cake or pie?

RobinCake (actually – just give me the batter to lick off the spoon)
Sharon: OMG! Me too!!

Sharon: Skydive or scuba dive?

RobinYikes! Neither- my adventure is not found in sky or sea.
Sharon: You aren’t going to believe this… but me too!

Sharon: Moonlight or sunlight?

RobinSunlight!
Sharon: take the tour or find your own way?

RobinFind my own way.
Sharon: You are so cool. We are like twinsies! You get to learn the super-secret handshake!

*30 minutes, one unicorn and 2 fire balls later*

Sharon: Thanks for visiting!

RobinI loved it! Can I come back? We can talk Dean and Strikeback and I will be your best friend 4-evah!

  1. This was possibly the best author interview I have ever read. You should BOTH write for Stephen Colbert - maybe as Twin Sisters From Separate Misters!
