Book Review: Wicked Flames (Solosti Prophecy #3) by Sharon Kay

Wicked Flames (Solsti Prophecy #3)
by Sharon Kay

Expected publication: July 2014
Gin Bonham lives with a dark secret. Born with an ability she never wanted, she builds her life around science and logic, running from the terror she is capable of causing. When sexy stranger Mathias spots her on a dance floor and cuts in, he leads Gin in a sensual rhythm that continues long after the music stops. But Mathias hides the fact that he knows exactly what she can do: in the deepest recesses of her mind lurks the power to manipulate fire. Destiny is coming for her and it doesn’t care if she’s ready or not.

Mathias possesses tracking and espionage skills so extraordinary that his fellow Lash demons call him The Hunter. Pursue and interrogate. He never fails. When he is tasked with coaxing Gin to work with the Lash demons against a common enemy, he relishes the challenge. But meeting her awakens a new, primal drive that pulls him toward her even as his tactics break her heart.

Failing to win Gin’s cooperation is not an option. But she is determined to flee, putting thousands of miles between her and any other supernatural creatures, including Mathias. Can she cool the charred embers of her emotions enough to forgive Mathias and embrace what she was meant to become? Or will her ability explode into something more than she can control?

Having read the first two books in this series and loving them, I have patiently waited for this one to be released and I was not disappointed. Unlike her two sisters, Gin Bonham has been running from the gift she has. She doesn't see the power she wields, as a gift but more of a curse. She's afraid of herself and the power she has inside her because she see's it as destructible, dangerous and she's afraid she might hurt or kill someone.
Mathias also know as Hunter by other Lash Demons, is sent to somehow convince Gin that she is needed to help her sisters in the upcoming brouhaha that they know is coming at some point. He isn't looking for a relationship but he's said he will do whatever is necessary to convince her to come back with him, even if that means seducing her.

While Gin knows the Lash Demons exist because of her sisters telling her about them, she never expected to find them hanging out with her without telling her who they were or that she would get caught up in the evil doings of the evil demons hell bent on causing destruction.

It seemed to me that Gin had an easier time getting control of her power than her sisters did in the first two books. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not but it worked for this character and her story.

From their first dance all the way through the arguments, hurt and betrayal to these two finally seeing each other for who they really are, it was a hot exciting ride. Secrets come to the surface that if you've read the first two books you kinda saw them coming but were excited with the announcement and reveal to the sisters. So many things start to make more sense and we get a small peek at what's to come, which just makes me want to read the next book right now.

If you like demons, mystical powers, witches and sex scenes that will burn the sheets right off your bed, then you'll love this book.

I give this book 5 sheep!

Sharon Kay was bitten early by the writing bug. At age twelve she wrote a short story, about a magic ring, that won a statewide contest. With her nose always in a book, she read the most novels for her age group in her local library’s summer reading program.

In her teens, writing took a back seat to fashion, as she was determined to find clothes different from what everyone else bought at the mall. And what she couldn’t find, she created. She learned to sew, worked in a fabric store after school, and spent her spare time with a needle in hand. Her black and orange prom dress is still one of her favorite creations.

She majored in apparel design in college, spending her summers working in costume shops and bridal boutiques. She worked for ten years in the Chicago garment industry, then switched her focus to apparel production logistics before becoming a stay at home mom.

Sharon lives in the Chicago area with her husband and son, and didn’t expect to write again. But Wicked Wind and the Solsti series formed in her head one weekend and refused to stay quiet until she put pen to paper. Her characters tend to keep her up at night, as they banter, fall in love, and slay endless varieties of power-hungry demons.
