You Might Like Zeroboxer If You Liked… Fonda Lee (Zeroboxer book tour)

You Might Like Zeroboxer If You Liked…

Zeroboxer is a young adult science fiction novel, released last week from Flux/Llewellyn and now available at bookstores and online. Because I love movies, to give you an idea of what the book is about, here are some of my favorite films—ones that might tell you that Zeroboxer would be up your alley.

The really smart, well-acted science-fiction movie about genetic engineering.

The classic, inspirational story of the boxer rising from a humble background—and an endearing romance too.

The Matrix
It blew our minds when it came out. Action-packed, smart sci-fi with spectacular martial arts sequences? No wonder it’s a modern classic.

The Fighter
Amazingly-acted boxing movie centered on deeply personal drama.

Ender’s Game
The book, as usual, is better than the movie, so that’s why I’m showing the cover of the novel instead of the more recent movie poster. The battle-room sequence in Orson Scott Card’s classic is the best-known depiction of combat in zero gravity. I wish there’d been a whole book set in that room.

Million Dollar Baby
The brilliant and heartbreaking boxing movie that thrills with fights and requires a box of tissues to boot.

So if a sports drama set in space, featuring zero-gravity combat action sequences, seems like something you’d want to see, at least in the perfect screen inside your own head, then wander over to your nearest bookstore and pick up Zeroboxer. A Sci-Fi Thrill Ride Set in the Action-Packed Sports Arena of the Future
A rising star in the weightless combat sport of zeroboxing, Carr “the Raptor” Luka dreams of winning the championship title. Recognizing his talent, the Zero Gravity Fighting Association assigns Risha, an ambitious and beautiful Martian colonist, to be his brandhelm––a personal marketing strategist. It isn’t long before she’s made Carr into a popular celebrity and stolen his heart along the way.

As his fame grows, Carr becomes an inspirational hero on Earth, a once-great planet that’s fallen into the shadow of its more prosperous colonies. But when Carr discovers a far-reaching criminal scheme, he becomes the keeper of a devastating secret. Not only will his choices place everything he cares about in jeopardy, but they may also spill the violence from the sports arena into the solar system.

  1. Thank you for this really amazing collection of sports films. I have watched Rocky for the 20th time perhaps. I love MMA and bet on it sometimes. Wish you a great day.
