Dorian Vlakhos is no ordinary aristocrat. He is a vampire king, who will do anything to save his clan from complete annihilation, before an ancient curse can claim his immortal life.

Penniless and orphaned, Victoria Kingston has nothing to bring to a marriage, yet she must shackle an unsuspecting gentleman into marriage by the end of the month or forfeit her rights as guardian of her younger sister. With the help of her dearest friend, Victoria begins her hunt, and vows to stay far away from the dark, mysterious, Dorian Vlakhos.

After meeting the beautifully innocent Miss Kingston, Dorian had to have her. He would do absolutely anything to make Victoria his. One sweet stolen kiss would bring them together while a force, more powerful than any vampire would bind them for all eternity. But treachery, war, and death rule Dorian’s dark world and Victoria would be fortunate to survive.

Victoria just lost her parents and has a younger sister she must care for. To pay off her family's debts she had to sell everything, including their treasured home, and go live with an Aunt who despised her. Her Aunt hated her so much that she said Victoria would lose guardianship of her sister and never see her again unless she managed to marry a man by the end of the month. With the help of her friend they set out to find suitable gentlemen. Victoria was a very beautiful woman and before long they had a list of eligible bachelors except one man did not make the list ,the mysterious, Dorian Vlakhos.

Dorian is an ancient Vampire the King of a clan that is under attack. To save his clan
Dorian moves to London in hopes of luring his attackers away to follow him. He is living on limited time because an ancient curse bestowed his line will take his life as it did with many kings before him. Laying eyes on the beautiful Victoria Kingston, Dorian knew he had to have her but his loyalties to his clan came first.

This book is definitely a treat for historical paranormal romance lovers out there. It was a light joyful read that captivated your attention from beginning to end. Very fast paced with lots of drama, war and Vampire politics. Although the characters are fiction they were very real to me. Greene did a great job taking you through the character's past to understand what made them who they were today in every sense of the way. Dorian’s parents hated him, his father who enlisted Dorian in his army, beat and whipped the boy in training to the point he felt nothing, his heart turning to stone. Instead of breaking him it made him stronger and he became the best warrior in his army, and a great king.

The historical premise of the book was definitely convincing, the language used and the settings, even down to the ball attending parties to find your suitable bachelor.

Dorian and Victoria’s circumstances which they found themselves in may not have been love at first but it was apparent that they did love each other throughout with some hot and steamy scenes, and I mean steamy. Love was a factor, however loyalty and honor is what I got out of the story. In the end it really comes down to who you trust and knowing who your allies really are.

I have not read Amanda Greene’s other work, I am glad I picked this one up. I definitely look forward to the next installment which with the way it ended I believe there will be.
