BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Rules
SEASON 10 #1

Review
The Buffy part of this comic begins with her and friends battling zompires—vampires that have become a version of zombies. Buffy and her Scoobies are now back in the States, in Santo Rosita, California. They are trying to get rid of what is left of these zombies, when a mysterious vampire named Vicki appears out of nowhere to help Buffy fight them. But the vampire has her own agenda, one that brings to light a new kind of vampire. The rules have changed with the new magic that Buffy has free after a time of no magic. And not only do we have the Scoobies, but the return of Spike and three old friends, two of them changed from how we knew them before.

It is good to have the tenth installment of Buffy back. The original television series is still one of the best vampire series, plus I believe still the best urban fantasy kick-ass heroine out there. And this comic has that series and Buffy in kick-ass spades. The artwork looks like all the characters we knew, the color is super and I enjoyed the storyline.

ANGEL & FAITH” Where the River Meets the Sea
SEASON 10 #1

Review

The next part of the comic is about Angel. This time he is in London, England. In a place called Magic Town. He saves a human from being torn apart from miniscule fairies. It puts me in mind of the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. Fairies roam our world, due to the New Magic. And like the fairies of old fairytales, these Fae are not nice. Angel comes back to his place, only to find the human he saved has been murdered and hung up human, words scrawled in blood upon a wall. He must search for those who killed the man alone, as Faith is in Santa Rosito, California in the States, assisting Buffy and her gang. What he finds is not those he wants, but a surprise for him.

The story as dark as the TV series had been, the artwork and the colors keep in tone like the way Angel’s world had been on television.

SERENITY: Leaves on the Wind: FIREFLY CLASS 03-K64
LEAVES ON THE WIND #1

Review
This takes off after the movie, “Serenity,” about maybe nine months later. The Alliance wants Captain Malcolm Reynolds and the crew of the Serenity found. They want a resistance that has rose monitored closely, and that the hijacking of the cordex (as they call it) a political hoax. There are those denying Miranda existed, that the Alliance caused the death of thirty million, and that those who did not die, became insane cannibals. Not only is the Alliance searching for Mal and his bunch, but the resistance is too. Meanwhile, Mal and the other are far away, and one crewmember no longer with them, but living on a planet with his mother. Not to give away a crucial plot point, something happens that will direct those of the firefly class ship back into the arms of their enemies.

Serenity: Leaves on the Wind looks to be a rollicking, jim-dandy of a ride through hyperspace, just as the TV series and the movie had been. Welcome back, Mal. Missed you!

The three separate series in one anthology is worth reading, and shows the those beloved series by Joss Whelon can still kick butt and give the fans what they have been demanding, now by way of the comics.

I give The Whedon Three Way 5 sheep.

    1. You have to go to a comic book store. You can probably find people selling it on amazon and ebay though :)
