Book Review: Revenant (Demonica Book 11) by Larissa Ione

Revenant (Demonica Book 11)
by Larissa Ione
Paranormal Romance
408 Pages
Plot:
HELL HATH NO FURY . . .

For five thousand years, Revenant believed he was alone in the world, a fallen angel beyond any redemption. Now he finds he has a twin brother who had all the light and love Revenant was denied. Caught in a tug of war between Heaven and Hell, he must weigh his thirst for revenge against his desire for a mysterious female named Blaspheme-a female whose very origins could deliver him into salvation . . . or destruction.

LIKE AN ANGEL SCORNED

Blaspheme has a deadly secret: she's the forbidden offspring of an angel and a fallen angel. Hunted by both heavenly and satanic forces, she has survived only by laying low and trusting no one. When Revenant claims he can save them both, how can she possibly believe him? But the powerful angel is persistence incarnate and for Blaspheme, there's no place she can hide in Heaven or Hell where he won't find her.

All good things must come to an end at some point. Try as we might, it's time to let go of this demon series and move on to the next world Larissa creates. How can I sum up this series, put into words the awesome and breathtaking masterpiece that one of the best PNR writers has developed? It's damn hard! I'll try but no matter what I say, it can never do this one justice.

From book numero uno of the Demonica series, Larissa Ione had me hooked. Addicted. Craved and strung-out (and that's not just my normal day) when I had to wait for the next installment. There are few writers who can balance a world as exciting and vibrant as this one. Even fewer who can keep a needy reader like myself coming back again and again. But that's the masterpiece of Demonica as a whole. Realistic, entertaining, dynamic and sexy characters that seem larger then life yet realistic at the same time.

Here we are at Revenant who is the twin brother to Reaver, separated at birth and both forced to live a life without the knowledge of the other. While Reaver got to hang out in the cushy Heavens, Rev is sent down to the bowls of Hell. Forced into immortal service for Satan himself. Tortured and beaten daily, there is a huge amount of violence in this story. But that's what you come to expect in this saga. I absolutely do NOT recommend reading this one as a stand alone. This series must be read from start to finish, and only in that order.

I was eager to see how his story would unfold. Who would be a match for this tormented male and would that gal be able to stand toe-to-toe with the second most powerful being. Surprised and happy are the two words that come to mind. Every bit of expectation I had was met, Blaspheme brought everything she had to the skull and bones table. Her Mother though was a real piece of work, but hey you certainly can't pick your family!

Overall, I am sad to see this one take that long walk down a short pier. Or whatever other analogy you can come up with. It's a bummer but I'm thankful the fantastic writing will continue in other sagas. Plus I can always go back and read these tales over and over.

  1. It's so hard to say goodbye to this world. I loved this book and I can't wait to see what other stuff Ms. Ione has planned for us.

  2. I loved this world so much. I think Revenant might be my favorite hero of the bunch (with Wraith making a close second).
