Eternal Flame
Guardians, #1
A woman he cannot have, a man who is only a dream.

When guardian Marcus Dagotto, discovers the Gods have gifted him with a mate, he is raging mad. He has no room for love and even less for a human who has no idea he exists.

Cassandra Jensen, has a shattered heart and has given up on men. Only one man can set her body on fire, but he is a fantasy that haunts her sleep.
Two worlds, one desire.
When the two collide, fate will rip them apart and test their resolve. Will darkness and evil prevail? Or, will love conquer all?

Marcus Dagotto is a guardian sworn to protect humanity. In 1712 he and some other guardians lost their mates after the women are impregnated with the spawn of a demon, and they have no choice but to kill them. Years later the supreme god gives Marcus a chance at love again with a new mate, but he's not happy when he finds out who and what she is.

Cassandra Jensen is a nurse who has been having erotic dreams of a man with fangs. She thinks she's been reading to many paranormal books and her fantasies are invading her dreams; that is until her dream lover steps into the bar she's at and walks directly over to introduce himself. She thinks she's going crazy so she makes an excuse to leave before he can get to know her better.

Marcus knows Cassie is his destined mate but doesn't know how to get her to give him a chance, so he goes about his life until he senses she's scared and in danger when she witnesses something she can't explain. He goes to her rescue and ends up walking her home. When he finds her unscathed physically from her encounter their relationship takes off from there. There are a lot of twists in this book that I just didn't see coming, but they really added to the story in a way that made it hard for me to put the book down once I started reading it.

I really loved the characters in this book as they are very likable and easy to relate to. The secondary characters are brilliantly written and I hope to see more of them in subsequent books.

This story is action packed with fight scenes worthy of a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie. But there were also some fun scenes that made me laugh as well. I think the funniest thing in this book was when Cassie said to Marcus, "please tell me you don't sparkle." after she found out he had fangs and drank blood.

If you like dragons, vampires, gods and alternate dimensions then you'll love this book. I'm a big fan of paranormal reads, especially vampire novels and if you're like me and have read Christine Feehan's 'Dark' series and liked it, you'll love this book as well. I found there were quite a few similarities between these two authors storylines and I liked that since I'm a big fan of Christine Feehan's Carpathians.

As a child, Valerie would often get into trouble for peeking at her mother’s favorite TV show, Dark Shadows. She can still hear her mother saying “It will give you nightmares.” She was right of course, but that did not stop Valerie from watching. As an adult, her love of the fanged creatures never waned. She would watch any vampire movie she could find.

Being a true romantic, Valerie was thrilled when she discovered the genre of paranormal romance. Her first read was one of Lara Adrian’s, Midnight Breed Series and from there she was hooked.

Today, Valerie has decided to take her darker, sensual side and put it to paper. When she is not busy creating a world full of steamy, hot men and strong, seductive women, she juggles her time between a full-time job, hubby and her two German shepherd dogs, in Northern IL.
