Murder. Lies. Betrayal. Winters’ team of paranormal experts has only scratched the surface of the Trask Mansion’s horrors. After a ritual gone wrong, are they the next to be added to its gruesome history?- See more

It looks liker the hunters have become the huntees. Okay, that line was a little cheeseball, but so is this comic book series. Jackson and his motley crew need to catch a ghost and get it out of the famously haunted Trask Mansion, to add to the occult art collection of an eccentric billionaire. Well, they've found the ghosts. Only trouble is that the ghosts have plans of their own.

It was hard to say how this issue would play out, given Jackson was lynched by one ghost and Joe the techie ghost hunter was ambushed by another, plus the conniving medium has yet to make her play inside the mansion. Well, #4 brings a lot of things to bear finally.

Overall, the pacing of the story picked up considerably, with plenty of suspense and action throughout the issue, but a couple of jump scares in certain scenes felt hokey and included more for splash than substance. Hey, that's fine I guess, since this whole series is a popcorn thrillride to begin with, but the premise and the bevy of flawed characters offers so much more than what's been delivered thus far.

Things have picked up, but I'm going to wait for the fifth issue to see how well it delivers on the setup of what could be an amazing climax.
