Interview: PNR author Donya Lynne (Book Tour) + giveaway

Today we have the PEPSI loving PNR author Donya Lynne!
*Sharon sticks tongue out at Katie then quickly deflects Coke can flying at her head*
She is here to talk about book #5 in her All the King's Men series. We even have a sexy barn yard sing along (Donya was not aware of this <G>)

Sharon: We interviewed you back in January during your Rebel Obsession book tour. What have you been up to?

Donya: So much has happened since January. Wow! I ended up retiring from my day job in May so I could focus 100% of my time on my writing career. I had so many books wanting to be written, it became a necessity to focus on writing. Since retiring, I've been living the dream, as they say, and have been working on many different projects. Besides Return of the Assassin, I've finished the draft for the first book in a new contemporary romance series called the Mark Strong Chronicles that I'm super excited about. I've also drafted a mini-prequel for the AKM Series, and have started Trace's book, as well as a couple of stand-alone projects. In other words, I've been very busy. And I love it.

Sharon: let’s bottle this feeling and call it Donya's Dreaming!
Donya: Works for me. LOL.

Katie: Did you bring any of your sexy vampires?! *looking around the room*
Donya: I always bring my sexy vampires. They're with me everywhere I go, which can get hard, because when I least expect it, one of them will start talking about his or her story. If I'm at home, that's great, but if I'm driving, not so much. If you have a question you want to ask one of them, I can bring him out for a sec and let you fondle him…er, I mean ask him.
Katie: Oh goody, I've reserved a private room just for the occasion! Send him in….

Sharon: How much input does Lucky have in your books

Donya: Lucky hasn't been with me as much as she used to be now that I've moved into an office and stopped using the desk in the bedroom, where she slept next to me on the bed. I miss her, and sometimes she does come in and nap on the desk, but most of the time she stays in the bedroom. But she's still my little helper and my little cutie-pie.

Sharon: If you could write a Disney slash fiction, who would you pair up? <G>

Donya: I would take the beast from Beauty and the Beast and match him up with Cinderella. Anyone who's read my stories knows I love hard luck cases, as well as flawed characters. I think this pairing would be a lot of fun.
Katie: [singsong voice]There's something sweet and almost kind. But he was course and unrefined! Oh, is this not the musical interview? No?
Donya: I don't know about that. I can work in some music. <G> But it won't be Disney music.

Sharon: Brown chicken brown cow...

Katie
: I want to hear more about the vampires! Tell us about the hero in your next release.

Donya: Up until now, Malek has been my steady rock. He's been the calm within the chaos. The one who could be counted on to keep his cool while everyone else lost theirs. But then Malek met Gina in Heart of the Warrior…and mated her…and has slowly been sinking into hell without her. Furthermore, forming a mating link to Gina reopened old wounds where Malek's first mate was concerned. He never mourned Carmen's death, and before he can accept Gina, he has to say good-bye to Carmen. It puts him in what he refers to as the "in-between." On one side is Carmen, who he resists letting go of, and on the other is Gina, who he craves but struggles to accept because he's afraid of destroying Carmen's memory. He's suffering way worse than any of the others ever did, including Micah, and we all know how badly Micah suffered. Malek is worse. He's literally become a split personality. But Gina has the power to save him and make him whole if he'll get out of his own way long enough to see her for the savior she is.

Sharon: I’ve been asking all our authors this questions because it is interesting to see what they pick. If you could have any piece of art in the world, what would it be?

Donya: It would have to be something unique and interesting. Something I could get lost in and be totally mesmerized by. I'm not so impressed with priceless works of art like the Mona Lisa or Faberge eggs. I'd be more interested in a $12 poster of a fantasy space scene that evoked me emotionally and took me into a daydream that led to a new book or just a scene within a book. I am more moved by images from video games than by priceless museum pieces, although I do like Egyptian art.
Sharon: can you give us an example?

Donya: Something like this:

Donya sent me the picture, but I lost it. If you resend it I will add it! (bad sheep, bad)

Katie: Do you dress up for Halloween? What was your favorite costume growing up?
Donya: Halloween is my favorite holiday, and I would like to dress up for Halloween, but every year it sneaks up on me and I run out of time to make or buy a costume. And when I was a kid, my dad was paranoid about us trick-or-treating because of razors in apples and people poisoning candy, etc. I know…paranoid. But that meant my brother and I never got to trick-or-treat. One year, I did manage to go out, though, and dressed up in a Planet of the Apes costume. So, I guess you could say that was my favorite costume.
Sharon: that is so sad… *looks at Katie* can we let her pick something from our magic box? All you have to do is think of what costume you want and it will be there. *Donya closes her eyes and pulls out _____?

Donya: A really cool Predator costume! Woo-hoo!
Sharon: Woohoo! *runs to get her Aliens costume*

Let's jam and then go scare some kids!

Sharon: What is coming up next for you professionally and personally?
Donya: Since retiring, my personal life is my professional life. I never truly understood what people meant before when they said that if you do what you love you'll never work another day in your life. I get that now. So, professionally AND personally, my next plans include finishing the Mark Strong Series, Trace's book, and the AKM prequel. Additionally, I'm beginning to look for an agent. I'd like to be a hybrid author who both self-publishes and publishes through a publisher, and I'd like to see my Mark Strong books in a TV series someday. There will be enough material that I think the books can be made into a series that lasts 3-4 seasons or longer. An agent can help make both the publisher and the TV series happen. I would also like to have some remodeling done on the house. The kitchen, both bathrooms, and the basement. That would be awesome.

Katie: Have you been to any conventions? Is there one you dream of going to?

Donya: I went to RT in Kansas City this past May and loved it. Just loved it. What a great time, and I know I only scratched the surface of all I could have done. And I don't really dream about any conventions in particular, but I dream about going to as many as I can. I am especially looking forward to the RWA convention in New York in a couple of years, because I've never been to New York, and the next year it will be held in San Diego, another city I've never been to. I would love to attend RT in New Orleans next year, as well, but we'll see if I can work it into the budget. I have so many projects I want to focus on next year that I said months ago I wouldn't go to any conventions next year so I could spend every minute on my books. We'll see if I actually follow through on that.
Katie: Send us pictures if you dress up!

Donya: If I get to go and dress up, I will.

Sharon: Have you bought any holiday gifts yet?
Donya: No. We hardly ever buy holiday gifts. We don't have kids, and we're too focused on getting all the debt paid off to spend much on the holidays. We usually get gift cards.

Rapid Fire
Sharon: fairy tale wedding or elope?
Donya: Elope
Katie: [singsong voice, again]Newwwww and a bit alarming, who'd have ever thought that this could beeeeeee! Oh, sorry again. She said no to fairy tale wedding.

DonyaLOL

Katie: round or square?

DonyaRound

Sharon: Hundred Acre Wood or Narnia?

DonyaNarnia
Sharon: What? you don't like Pooh *Sharon giggles because she said Pooh*

Katie: bull fighting or bull riding?

DonyaBull riding

Sharon: raw vegies or cooked?

DonyaRaw

Katie: long hair or short?

DonyaLong

Sharon: “It was a Dark and Stormy Night” or “Once Upon a Time”?

DonyaLOL. Do you have to ask? Obviously, I choose, "It was a dark and stormy night."
Sharon: I know, just wanted to hear you say it J

Katie: dinner in Paris or breakfast in the outback
DonyaParis

Sharon: vacuum or mop?

DonyaVacuum
NOPE!

Katie: county fair or amusement park?DonyaAmusement park
Sharon: favorite ride?

DonyaIt's been a while since I went to an amusement park, but The Beast at King's Island in Ohio never fails to deliver a thrill.

Thanks for visiting! Is there anything else you would like our readers to know before our dragon gives you a ride home?

DonyaJust that it's always a pleasure to visit and to have a great holiday season.

All the King's Men - Book 5
3rd place winner - RWA Heart of the West contest
"If you've been waiting for the next Black Dagger Brotherhood, this is it…" -GraveTells Review
Assassin Gina Carano doesn't have time for love. In fact, the last thing she wants is a mate. But Gina can't stop thinking about Malek, the handsome AKM enforcer she met in Chicago. And now she's beginning to fear Malek's memory is the reason for her crippling panic attacks, which have assaulted her relentlessly since she left him.

Malek has never dealt with the centuries-old death of his first mate, but now that he's formed a new mating link to Gina, he has no choice. Stuck between the agony of mourning and the despair of being without Gina, his mind fractures as he attempts to reconcile the two halves of himself.

When Gina botches a hit on two vicious vampires in Miami, she reluctantly flees back to Chicago, where Malek must choose between the past and the future before he loses Gina forever.

Warning: This book contains explicit sexual content, sensitive subject matter, references to non-traditional/alternative lifestyles, and strong profanity.

    1. Thank you. :) My Malek muse has always been one of my favorites, and as dark as this story went, I'm so happy Malek has finally worked through his "stuff." Poor guy suffered way too long.
