Book Review: Dive: a short story by Kory M. Shrum

Dive: a short story
by Kory M. Shrum
Kindle Edition, 36 pages
Published April 2nd 2014 by Timberlane Press
A young woman uses her supernatural abilities to find her parents' killer.

I read Shrum’s novel Dying for a Living (review) and knew she was going to be on my must buy list. Dive is a short story (only 36 pages), but you get a whole story about a young woman whose life has been shaped by vengeance after witnessing her parent’s murder. Of course our heroine/anti-heroine isn’t any normal woman. She has the ability to move through shadows and water into other places and worlds…some of them terrifying; giving her a means to carry out that vengeance.

This is a wonderfully dark story. What would you do if you had a power you could use for good or evil? I hope we will see more of Lou and her world.

4.5 “How’s the water?” Sheep
